Gas is leaking out of tank when tip is being installed. Valve handle could be on or off. It doesn't matter- still leaks.

How hot is the flame, could it melt 92.5% Silver?
The flame temperature of the Bernzomatic TS4000 torch is approximately 3600°F with propane and 3730°F with MAPP gas. The melting point of 92.5% silver (sterling silver) is around 1640°F. Therefore, this torch can easily melt 92.5% silver.

Yes! these were made for true Mapp Gas back in the day. Ran hundreds of Mapp gas tanks thru these. True Mapp gas has been replaced with Map-Pro gas
Would this work safely with a Sievert gas tank?
No only works with LP or Mapp gas torch cans

This type of torch head, is a flint-less ignition system, by using a small piece of quartz, with a special device to strike it, causing a shock/arch of electricity(Limitless).
How do you narrow the flame?
You don’t. It’s on or off.
This model does not have an adjustment knob. Instead the trigger itself is pressure sensitive. So careful modulation of your indexing on the switch will help to adjust the flame. Be cautious, this is not a toy, and the flame will ignite any combustible materials within 3 to 5 feet of the nozzle.
On this model you can’t narrow the flame nor the intensity.
This model's flame can only be altered, by changing the tip itself, as there are no knob's for adjustment's. This has the spiraling tip, which narrow's the flame quite well.
You don’t with this torch. It’s either on or off, no adjustment at all if you want to narrow the flame you will have to buy a different torch. But if you don’t need to narrow the flame this torch is durable and very handy.
