Questions & Answers

Will this product harm the butterflies, bees or hummingbirds that visit my flower garden?

Asked by Claudia October 8, 2020
1
Answer

Hi Claudia! BioAdvanced products (including those containing imidacloprid or clothianidin) do not adversely impact bee colony health when used according to label directions. However, we do recommend applying early in the morning or later in the evening when pollinators are not actively foraging and once the product has been allowed to dry completely it is safe. Jessica

Does this work on Spiders

Hi Tyrone! BioAdvanced 3 in 1 Insect Disease & Mite Control will control Spider Mites on ornamental plants, but it will not control other types of spiders. To treat ornamental plants for spiders, we offer products like BioAdvanced Carpenter Ant & Termite Killer Plus Concentrate. For treatment of spiders in and around your home, we offer BioAdvanced Home Pest Control Infoor & Outdoor Insect Killer. -Madison

Hi Jack! Yes! This product may be safely applied to all ornamental trees, plants, & shrubs. You just would not want to apply to food producing plants and trees. Jessica

To avoid possible harm to arborvitaes as well as other plants you would want outdoor temperatures to be under 90 degrees while applying and until allowed to dry completely. It may be possible to apply very early morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler. Jessica

This product contains insect, disease (fungi) and mite control which is why they call it "3-in1" where as Malathion only controls insects. From my experience Malathion works better at insect control that this product. If you just need insect control then Malathion would be a superior product. Or use them both.

The 3 in 1 Insect, Disease, & Mite may be applied to control scale insects while in the crawler stage for a quick kill. I would also recommend applying the 12 Month Tree & Shrub Protect & Feed to control the insects in other stages for up to one year! Jessica

Can this be used on plants that are near a pool?

Asked by TexasToast June 11, 2020

I would recommend not applying to plants in any area where the product could drift or over spray into the pool. If they are in containers you could move them away from the area while spraying and allowed to dry completely. Jessica

We had an infestation of Japanese beetles on our rose bushes. We sprayed the product heavy on the rose bushes and directly on the beetles. It did not kill the beetles on contact. They did thin out but they never completely left or at least some came back. I sprayed the bushes again heavily and directly on the beetles and again it did not kill them on contact nor did I ever find any on the ground under the bush.

I can't definitively compare it to other products, but it does seem to help defend against insects and disease. The problem I have, and it was partially my oversight, is that this is a spray-on product. I much prefer systemic products and had assumed this was one when I was purchasing a variety of similar products. So while the product works, I will look for other products that are systemic.

Response from BioAdvancedJun 3, 2020
I am sorry that you find the product difficult to apply. If you would prefer a systemic product for your ornamental flowers you may want to consider our All in One Rose & Flower Care. This product is available as a liquid or granule that lasts up to 6 weeks! Jessica BayerAdvanced

Saved half of one and rest of 3 hedges. Some thing attacked the hedge and in just a couple of days the leaves were gone and half the plant died. The following weekend I used this and the death of my plants instantly stopped. leaves came back on much of plant you see. wish I had used earlier.

Used it to kill bagworms. They were still very small so the insect killer worked very well on them. The directions said to apply it 3 times, but with the second application I noticed that the bagworms had not grown. They were already dead. I will still apply the 3rd coat in another 7 days, just to make sure.

I bought it online for my apricot tree, but realized after it arrived that the back label says “not for use on edible plants.” I’m sure it works well but I can’t use it.

Response from BioAdvancedFeb 22, 2021
I am sorry to hear that Arwen! While the 3 in 1 Insect, Disease, & Mite Control may not be used on edibles you may safely apply to all your ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees to control listed pests and plant diseases. We do have a variety of products that may be safely applied to your apricot tree. I would like to hear more about what you are trying to achieve and offer you a recommendation. My bushes are covered with tiny white mites. They are sucking the life out of the leaves and branches. This insecticide specifically says for treating mites. I mixed it with water according to the attached instructions in a pump sprayer and soaked the bushes. That was a few weeks ago. It did nothing to remove the mites. Neither did the second treatment. This stuff is a waste of time and money.
