Birch Plywood (Common: 3/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft.; Actual: 0.728 in. x 23.75 in. x 47.75 in.) is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 21.

Made in USA. I’ve purchased chinese birch from the lumber yard 15 ply all birch. I’ll see how the box I’m building 4 four subwoofers is going to handle when the pressure builds up.

If you want dense true woodworkers Baltic birch go elsewhere, this stuff is less ply, less dense, has voids, and not really all that great for drawers and such. But it was square flat and the surface is fine.

As a cabinetmaker I have numerous suppliers available to me and I virtually use Birch Ply exclusively in my carcass work. HD's supplier (Canadian I believe) does offer a good quality Birch ply and the veneer is well attached and thick enough to meet the demands of high-end finishing. My only observation is that the figuring in the "A" side of the ply can vary quite a bit but that's because of the sapwood being used. Usually another package has less. As a paintable surface, however, it's all nice and clear with no patches. The core count is acceptable, too, but higher priced plys have higher core counts. Edges of this ply must be covered to be presentable. The prices being charged are also acceptable and very competitive with other suppliers.

I appreciate the cutting of the sheet down to a size I can more easily handle. I just don’t think the price should double for a quarter sheet. The veneer is thinner than paper and comes loose far to easily.

The only negative is that there is a lot of variation in the quality of the birch face veneer, which requires examining multiple pieces when making a purchase.
