ARIANA COLLECTION by Bloem: The Ariana planter will quickly become one of your favorite pots because it helps keep your plants from drying out and will reduce the time you spend watering. Inside the planter is a hidden reservoir located at the bottom of your pot that holds approx. 1”-3.5” water (depending on planter size). This self-watering insert keeps dirt and roots above the hidden reservoir line while constantly providing healthy “greenhouse-like” moisture through the evaporation process. If you’re forgetful, or you’re just not home very often, self-watering containers are a must-have. They’re also helpful if you’re growing in an area that’s not convenient to a water spigot, such as a balcony. How a Self-Watering Planter Works: Inside Bloem's self-watering planter, the potting mix is held above the water line by a sturdy screen. The water chamber is connected by small porous channel filled with soil, which then acts as a wick. As water is used by the plant or evaporates from the surface of the soil, capillary action draws more water up from below. The soil has just the right amount of water all the time, but also maintains air pockets, which the plant roots need to stay healthy.

AnswersDrill a hole or two at the water line on the side of the pot/s. It will let the excess water drain out. I put garden/landscape cloth over the holes to keep soil from leaking out with the water. Learned it from "ARMS Family Homestead" on Facebook/Internet channel. Self-wicking pot video.

AnswersBloem Ariana planter features a sealed base so it does not require a saucer unless you punch out the optional drainage holes. If you google "Bloem Ariana Planter" you should be able to see inside photos of the pot and the self watering disk. We hope this helps, Thank you.

AnswersNo, I would not do that. The great thing about this planter is that it never spills water over onto your furniture. I have not had any problem with over-watering. I have several sizes and colors. This Bloem planter is my favorite.

I purchased 4 of these pots for herbs. They are in a decorative metal holder that I have hanging on the wall near my kitchen. I punched out the holes at the bottoms so that they would drain easily. The plastic is pretty sturdy, plus they look great!

Not much you can say about a plastic plant pot but the Ariana's come in a range of colors and sizes. I like them because they are self watering and don't drip. I will be able to use these pots for a long time.

I love these Bloem pots because they don't leak water.
The Union red is my favorite to give plants in for Christmas, as the dull red color does not outshine the plants and is good for all year.
It highlights the outline color of some of my sedum plants.
This is Not a true red, more on the maroon scale than is pictured.
I also have the planters in brown, blue and yellow and in larger sizes.
Can't beat the price!
