Product Overview

Now you, too, can enjoy the incredible taste of fresh oranges picked right from your own tree. Fragrant white flowers bloom in clusters among attractive, glossy, green leaves. Oranges begin to appear in the spring and as they mature they help to provide visual interest. The edible fruit can be peeled and eaten, squeezed for juice, or sliced and enjoyed in beverages, in cooking and as garnishes. The included, color-coordinated metal pot with handles makes it easy to move your tree from one location to another.
  • Fun and fast-growing trees, children love to watch the fruit mature
  • Self-pollinating, so only 1 tree is needed to produce fruit
  • Prune by pinching back the tips of new growth toward the interior branches, remove any new growth or stems near the soil
  • Orange trees adapt well to container culture and only require transplanting to a larger, well-draining container as needed
  • Fruit ripens only when on the tree
  • Harvest when the fruit has reached its full color and is slightly soft when pressure is applied to the rind
  • Prefer sunny location
  • Grows 6 ft. to 8 ft. tall
  • Plant 15 ft. apart
  • Perennial in zones 8-12
  • Growing instructions: orange trees are great indoor and outdoor patio plants, for best results, in the spring move your potted tree outdoors into full sun when the threat of frost is past, bring it back indoors in the fall before the frost season begins, fertilize regularly with high nitrogen formula, 5-3-3 ratio, water thoroughly while letting the surface soil dry between watering, do not overwater, prune by pinching back the tips of new growth toward the interior branches, remove any new growth or stems near the soil

Although it was 10 days late (lost in the mail) it arrived in amazing shape. Far better than the Key Lime twig ($60 loss) arrived with all the leaves in the bottom of the box, I’m not a miracle worker! The little orange pail is worthless now for even use on my porch with the slightest breeze because it’s grown so much it’s top heavy. A good thing, good looking tree!

Tiny
This is much, much smaller than I expected for $30.00. It looks more like $9.99 plant, if that.

I ordered two trees. They were tightly packed, almost squashed in fact. I was able to get one tree to come back to life. The other one, no matter how much care and advice I received from my local nursery, it died. Heartbroken because I have ALWAYS wanted an orange tree.

As a child growing up, I loved watching my dad dote over his container orange tree. Now as an adult, I wanted to share in those same joyous moments by having my own container orange tree. I felt that the price for Bloomsz container orange tree at Home Depot was decent considering you receive a lush, healthy 1' sapling. The tree comes inside a 4" round, plastic pot set inside a decorative orange, metal container with handles but no drainage holes. There are Care Instructions, Contact Information and Plant Identification wrapped around the outside of the orange metal container. There is a paper pamphlet staked into the pot's dirt containing a copy of the Care Instructions and recipes for the fruit. The stem of the tree is marked with a weather-proof, plastic plant identification tag. My one mistake, I failed to check the roots when I purchased my tree. Upon getting the orange tree home, I lifted the plastic inner pot out of the orange decorative metal container only to discover a mass of large roots growing through the drainage holes and circling the bottom of the plastic pot. This means that the tree will need transplanting immediately. Its roots will be scored heavily when I go to plant the tree into a much larger container which basically renders the orange metal container obsolete. I am really eager to see this tree produce some oranges and create some fond memories!

The planter is worthless unless your intent is to let it grow inside of your house. The tree must get replanted in a larger planter. The tree is less than 1 ft. tall. It took root easily without losing a leaf. It looks like it is going to grow well here in Arizona. I recommend it though it is going to take 5 years to grow tall enough to shade my window.
