Asked by: Bob
The confusion is that the Use and Care Manual link states: FUELING AND LUBRICATION Use regular grade unleaded gasoline mixed with 25:1 2-cycle engine oil. And the Home Depot overview states: 40:1 fuel mixture.

Has anyone had a problem with leaking? My new one leaked. Got another one... same leak.

Looks like it's the bar/chain oil leaking from the belly of the saw.
Asked by: Coach
If it's the chain oil. There is a adjustment screw on the bottom. Hope that helps

18 in. 45cc Heavy Duty Gas Chainsaw is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 716.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blue max saw GARBAGE I recently bought the 20 inch blue max chain saw online from Home Depot. We used it for about 20 minutes just to see how it would do. It did good. The problem is 3 days later we were going to use it again and when we tried starting it we pulled it a few times then the rope would not retract. So we took it apart. the recoil spool and spring have a bolt in the center that is screwed to the inside of the blue cover. Well it had broke off. No way to fix it without a whole new recoil cover. They should make that out of metal!!! Not cheap plastic!!! We are going to send it back and buy a brand with better quality!! We were sure hoping to get more than 20 minutes use out of it !!!!!!!! NOT IMPRESSED!!! The whole reason we are even looking at saws is because my fathers 46 year old homelite saw got motor damage because our local lawn n garden store gave him crap oil to mix. That was a great saw !!! They don't make them that good anymore. Just like automobiles.. everything now is disposable JUNK !!!!!!!

However, the "anti-vibration" handle jarred my husbands arm quite a bit. He has operated chainsaws before. The cord was hard to pull and it took quite a few tries to get it to start, even though he followed the starting directions correctly and had the correct fuel mix. It cuts like a hot knife through butter - when it runs. The chain did not fall off at all during our testing. However, it would not start again after it was warm. As with other reviewers, it also leaked chain oil continuously, despite adjustments. It also does not come with a case, which would have been nice. My overall rating is 3 stars, because it did cut well. Our negative factors were the cord was hard to pull, and you had to pull it multiple times to start (I'm not talking once or twice), it vibrated quite a bit (in comparison to the Ryobi that we got to replace it when we took it back and returned it to the store.), it leaked oil, and it would not start when it was warm. We used ours once for some trimming and then returned it to the store. We purchased an 18 in Ryobi to replace it, which we have been happy with.

If you follow the instructions you should have no problems. It cranks when it's supposed to. It cuts great. I can drop trees without fear of bogging it down. This and a brand name saw were recommended by a blog site for saws under $200. I'm glad I took a chance. I personally like the chain oil adjustment screw. Just has been a great saw. Wish they had a better carrying case but it will fit in a Poulan 18 inch case. Advertise your saws more. Thanks

So far the saw has performed as specified, I cut a portion of a cedar tree down, and then using a mini mill I milled about 30 board foot of the cedar, to use for projects. I will cut the other three down soon, so at that time I will put the saw through the paces of those 24" plus trees. I didn;t give 5 starts because I only ran it for about 3 hours, but did not have any issues starting the unit when it was warm / hot from running like I did with my other chain saw.

I don't like how the RIP cord feels when pull starting the saw, it feels cheaply made and I have a feeling that I'm going to have to buy a lot of pull start parts. So I'm not convinced that this saw is going to give me years of reliable functionality.

Runs good, easy to start, but only problem I have it is little weird pulling rope to start. It is sort of hard to pull, but it will start. Saw does the job, no problems there. It is worth the money.
