The primary reason is that, to reduce production costs, the cylinder bores of these generic chinese 52cc engines are not honed. There are no "micro-grooves" in the cylinder wall to retain oil, so to prevent engine overheating issues and provide sufficient piston lubrication, the manufacturer specifies a fuel/oil ratio of 25 to 1. Using a fuel/oil ration that is higher will result in higher cylinder head and wall temperatures and much higher piston temperatures. Higher temperatures will, over time, cause premature piston seizure and cylinder damage.

are they good chainsaws

Asked by: hair
Yes. Given routine maintenance and common-sense usage, these machines are something else. You really have to use one to see just how much power this engine makes. I have owned a very similar machine for more than 3 years, use it on 5 acres of forested property (mixed conifers and oak), has more power and starts easier than my Stihl, cost about 1/6th the price, and it's the first machine I go to whenever I cut. I'm working on my 3rd chain and second bar, and so far the only notable issue is keeping it clean, because it gets used so much.

Has anyone had a problem with leaking? My new one leaked. Got another one... same leak.

Looks like it's the bar/chain oil leaking from the belly of the saw.
Asked by: Coach
If it's the chain oil. There is a adjustment screw on the bottom. Hope that helps
