Product Overview

For hundreds of years, in the densely wooded mountains of Northern Europe, woodsmen have crafted exquisite wood flooring using the oldest, time-tested methods. Unlike modern processes, this traditional old-world method exposes the natural heart of the timber, revealing a tighter, more refined, consistent wood grain pattern, which produces wider planks that are more attractive and desirable. Now, this method has been brought to America and made available for your home by Blue Ridge Hardwood Flooring. Made of the strongest hand-selected White Oak, Castlebury hardwood floors will endure the ages, shine as an aesthetic centerpiece of your home, and serve as the foundation on which you live your life.

Can this product be installed on basement concrete?

Asked by Dylan November 15, 2020
1
Answer

Hello and thanks for contacting us. Solid hardwood flooring can not be installed in a basement or over concrete. Our solid hardwood floors can be installed on or above grade on an approved wood subfloor. You can find the installation guide under "Info and Guides" section from the product page. If you want to install in a basement over concrete you have this same product in an engineered platform that is approved for basement installation over concrete with an approved underlayment. We have it available in a 3/8" thick x 6" click platform (Model # 22109) and a 1/2" thick x 7" wide tongue and groove platform (Model # 22098). If you have other questions please contact us at customerservice@blueridgehardwood.com.

How much of bevel is there on the sides and ends? I don't want something that is a dust and dirt ...

Asked by bobob June 14, 2020
1
Answer

This product has micro-bevels on the ends and sides. If any dirt or debris collects in the bevels it can be easily cleaned with a broom or vacuum that is designed for hardwood floors.

What is the average and shortest length to be expected in a case?

Asked by Will May 31, 2020

Answer

The longest piece you could possibly get will be 80" long. The average length falls between 35"-40".

Can I make this wood any more shiny than it is?

Asked by Judy April 16, 2020
1
Answer

Hello and thanks for contacting us. This floor was designed to have a low gloss finish which is currently the most popular gloss level. It is not recommended that any type of polish, etc be applied to the existing aluminum oxide surface as it will likely not adhere, may cloud the finish and will void your finish warranty. The only way to make any prefinished floor shinier would be to have a professional screen and re-coat the floor but this would be costly and void the finish warranty.

Does this pre-finished hardwood flooring need time to acclimate prior to installation?

Asked by CeCe March 28, 2020
1
Answer

It is crucial that any solid flooring is acclimated/conditioned in the climate-controlled area where it will be installed until its moisture content reaches the specified levels. Refer to the installation instructions for the specific flooring. This step allows the moisture content level in the floor to equalize with the home’s levels. Proper acclimation is determined by moisture level readings at the time of the installation, not by the length of time that the floor is acclimated. The wider the flooring plank, the more time it will take to acclimate properly. .

How many layers are applied for the aluminum oxide finish? Thank you

Asked by Elliot November 2, 2019
1
Answer

Hello, this item has a 7 layer UV cured aluminum oxide finish.

Is this floor resistant to dog paw scratching? Is it tough? Is it good for large pets? Looks beau...

Asked by RhodesianRidgeback August 17, 2019
1
Answer

Today’s factory applied finishes are much more durable than site-applied finishes. The UV cured aluminum oxide finish on this floor is ten times more abrasion resistant than standard polyurethane. The white oak wood utilized to craft this floor is a very hard species plus the grain pattern, natural color, rustic details and lower gloss finish will all be effective at hiding any of life’s little accidents. However the wood has not been modified and is just as mother nature grew it so enough force will scratch or dent it. Solid wood floors, unlike all other types of flooring, are a lifetime addition to a home and can be resurfaced or refinished.
