The wood was not up to standard. There were many gaps when pieces were being payed down together. Some pieces even had wood sticking out which could cause splinters on feet. Very disappointed in the quality of the wood.

We installed 1600 sq ft of this product, with the right tools (power jack and side nailer) you will get great results. Recommendation is to measure width of each board, some are a little narrow and some wide. Usually 1/16 or 1/32 off, put those boards in separate piles and use them all on one row and you won't have issues with gaps between boards.

Real cost is 30-35% more due to small pieces
So figure out cost per square foot and compare what you can get elsewhere for the price. Or figure out what to do with 12”- 18” pieces. Some pieces are milled wider, which becomes visible after they are nailed, so the contractor has to pull out, you will also hear his complaints. Judging by other comments, company is aware of the problem. I love the color but in retrospect would have stayed away from this product. I bought the 5” wide.

I ordered natural red oak and got boxes of very dark boards. Some looked like oil stains, many light and dark boards, no consistency on color. If I wanted a rustic looking floor I would have ordered a rustic board. I ordered 750 sq ft and got 480 sq ft of "natural red oak" looking boards. Very disappointed in the color variations.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review. The species is Red Oak so you will have variance in the wood substrate due to natural wood characteristics found in the species. The substrate can vary from light to dark giving you the variation in color. Hardwood flooring is a natural wood product; color of actual product may vary from images and samples depending on lighting and properties of the wood.

the flooring was easy to put down, just wish I didn’t have so many small pieces. Out of 10 Cases, at least 3 to 31/2 cases were short pieces. If Blue was cleaning out their warehouse, that’s probably why I received so many short pieces

The random lengths of the planks are a result of natural imperfections such as larger knots and cracks being cut out of the boards during the process of manufacturing. The lengths of the boards are totally dependent upon how Mother Nature grew the particular tree that is being processed. No two planks of a real wood floor are ever the same. This contributes to the natural beauty and uniqueness that is highly prized in real wood floors.

Beautiful hardwood!!
I installed the red oak 5" wide hardwood throughout my main floor and stairs. The quality of the wood and cuts were fantastic, almost no bad boards. There is a nice finish without looking too shiny. The Home Depot order manager, Karen helped along the way and the Home Solutions installers did a great job, for an overall successful project!
