Questions & Answers

What is the smallest particle size that it removes from the air?

Asked by Betty May 18, 2020

All of our air purifiers have the ability to filter out microscopic particles. The smaller particles are actually easier to capture in the filter material. Small particles (<.01 microns) move around like gases very quickly, getting caught in between the folds of the filter fibers. The most penetrating and most difficult particle to capture is 2.5 microns in size. This size particle is the perfect size and moves at the perfect speed to pass right through a filter fiber hole. Our Classic, Pro, and Sense air purifiers capture this size particle at a rate of 99.97%, while our Pure Blue line will capture this size particle at a 99% rate.

Money well spent...
Customer review from logo
Sooooo excited for my new Blueair 205. My friend who has terrible allergies had recommended me to research Blueair as he has had a 201 unit for years. After some research online I decided to purchase a 205 for my bedroom as the 205 is the perfect size for 260 sq ft. It's been up and running for now about 2 months and I can honestly say I sleep better then ever. I haven't had a runny nose from seasonal allergies since I plugged in the air purifier as I use to wake up nightly. Ordering was simple and shipping was free. I ordered on a Friday and it delivered on a Monday. Great service and a great product...

Clean Air, Happy Sinuses!
Customer review from logo
Our 205 is keeping our bedroom air much cleaner and we are waking up with clear sinuses. I also use it in my art studio to keep the air clean when a student comes for a lesson. It’s very well built, and quiet too.

Sleek and Subtle
Customer review from logo
I am so happy with my purchase. I bought this because of forest fire smoke in my area and it certainly did wonders to clear up my household. Love the design too, and it's super quiet and subtle, easy to overlook in the room. Highly recommend!!

I agree with Consumer Reports
Customer review from logo
I have owned Blueair units for over 15 years and I have tried other brands. I agree with the air purifier ratings from Consumer Reports and consider Blueair among the best. I run 3 Blueair 205 units, one for each level of our home. We appreciate our continually clean indoor air, especially during smoky days from wildfires.

Quiet filter
Customer review from logo
I bought this unit to help decrease potential COVID spread in my daughter's "learning pod". I'm glad that I bought it, because we now also have wildfires creating poor air quality in Washington and the air felt so much better with the air purifier on inside! I'm very happy so far. My only complaint is that I can't yet connect the unit to the app.

Classic 205
Customer review from logo
This unit does a great job of filtering but it can't be placed against the wall beause the air intake is in the back and the exhaust is out the top. So we use it turned backwards, which doesn't look so great. Purchased the additional dual filter since there is a lot of smoke in northern california where we live. The filtration is great... looks not so much.

Great Machine
Customer review from logo
This is my second Blueair Classic 205. I have one in my bedroom, and bought a second one to put in the living room. This machine is so quiet I can barely hear it. It definitely cleans the room of dust and allergens. It is very sleek and doesn't take up much room. The filter is easy to change, and with the filter subscription I never have to remember to order a filter, it comes automatically. I would recommend this to a friend.

Decent Unit
Very expensive for a fan inside a bit of stamped metal & plastic cover--although it is quiet and a nice size. Blueair filter club is a frustrating mess though--plan on getting filters somewhere else.

Must have in my home
Customer review from logo
I have owned 3 or these classic 205 units over the last 5 years. They are essentially a must have when I move to a new location to combat allergies. I worked internationally so the voltage requirements have changed so I sold the last two I had. I buy the classic due to the low ownership cost with a single large HEPA filter and simple design.
