Product Overview

Chambord is a true original. The iconic design, now synonymous with the Bodum name, dates back to the 1950s. To this day we continue to produce the Chambord with the same artisan craftsmanship of yesteryear, but with a focus on environmentally responsible manufacturing in our factory in Portugal. The French press system continues to be a greener way to brew coffee with the truest flavor possible. The French press coffee maker is the simplest of all brewing systems, where coarsely ground beans meet hot water right off the boil. The right temperature (9296°C, 195205°F) brings the optimal extraction power for the essential oils in the beans to develop their full flavor profile in just four minutes. An easy press on the plunger locks the grinds at the bottom of the glass carafe and stops the brewing process.
  • Includes on 8-cup French press coffee maker
  • For the French press brewing method, Bodum recommends a coarse grind
  • Borosilicate glass beaker
  • Stainless steel frame and plunger
  • Dishwasher safe

Answer

I use 1/4 cup of off-the-shelf coffee for the 8-cup Bodum Chambord french press. Your preference may differ.

Twelve hours ago this french press was $31.98. I go to purchase it this morning and now it's $50?...

Hi CJ, prices of items are subject to many factors including a national average set by our corporate office along with collaboration from our manufacturers and vendors, where the merchandise is being sold, the type of materials and labor used to create the product, and other various, related aspects of online merchandising. Can you place the coffee maker on the stove (at a very low temp) to keep coffee warm?

I've been wanting to try out a french press coffeemaker. Having been used to electric coffee makers I wasn't sure what to expect tastewise. I followed the directions for making the coffee. It is recommended to use course ground coffee to prevent the strainer from getting clogged up. I boiled my water to use in a tea kettle. I let the coffee steep for the full 4 minutes as instructed. Poured it into my cup and added a little sugar. It tasted much better than my electric coffeepot makes. I'm glad that I know now how much better coffee can taste.

The strainer that holds the coffee down doesn't go all the way down, consequently grounds can pass through. It is also difficult to clean because the area at the bottom keeps the grounds wet. It should press all the down so the ground do not have any excess liquid.

I am pleased with the French press. I gave it 4 stars because when pouring the coffee the glass slips out of the frame. You need to hold a finger on it to keep it in the frame. BE CAREFUL—the glass is HOT.

This french press is well made and works as expected. It makes enough for several mugs of coffee. I use a large insulated coffee mug to keep the coffee warm. I like the fact that unlike other french presses (including some Bodums) this press has a stainless steel plunger rather than plastic.
