Q:I was refinishing aluminum patio furniture and while wire brushing to remove paint discovered that I made a hole. Can this product be used to fill, then sand, paint?

Answer This Question

A:  Not unless you are talking about a pinhole. A better choice would be regular Bondo body filler or JB Weld.

Perfect for repairing the small dings and cracks in a wood veneer. This Bondo is thinner and is meant as a smoothing topcoat and will not work for larger damage.

Absolute garbage. Lost a whole evening of work.
Pure garbage. Takes forever to "cure" except when it's on your spatula- then it turns "dry" and impossible to spread smooth. I get 20 seconds "working time" followed by 60+ minutes of unsandable firm gum. This stuff is junk. Lost a whole evening of work having to undo this crap. If there's guys getting good results then how are you using it?

Question about stage number on packaging
I have used this product with great success for years. Buying some recently I noticed on the packaging that it says either Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4. What does this mean, or refer to? I have seen 3M's stages of finishing and that's not what I am looking for. I have seen others asking the same question on other forums/sights and no one seems to be able to get any answer, other than 3M's stages of finishing list. A different stage number on the package would indicate a different use for the product.

Great product, super easy to use
This is my go to filler for spot repairs and filling deep gouges or smoothing out 3D models. No mixing means it’s easy to apply and it dries very quickly so parts can be sanded and painted without a long wait. If applied fairly thin and rubbed on, it will dry in just minutes.

Saves time and fills pesky pin holes
Been painting cars for years I used 3M Spot putty for all my pinholes pop up and Bono I also use them for filling in small rock chips on the front of automobiles I’ve never had any problem with this I usually spray with 2K primer … I like the primer dry spray a little guide coat on a sand down the Geico show me where my spots are I fill them in 3M spot but he dries quickly re-sand and paint… Great product!

              Works good on ABS
This works well. I am currently using a tube that was sitting in my toolbox for over 6 years and it works fine. There was some initial clear liquid at the start of the tube but I just squeezed it out and discarded it and after that it is very homogenous. I am using it to fill and smooth seams between parts glued together in the making of ABS boat hulls and I find it works very well for this application. It adheres to ABS very well and has a very good combination of firmness while remaining very sandable. I am very happy with the results. It does dry very quickly but I think that is a good feature of this product. It also does not dry out in the tube after being opened and then sitting for long periods of time between uses. I am actually online to purchase more of it and decided to leave a review while I'm here just because it has helped me achieve very nice professional looking results with my projects.

Works great for pinholes or minor scratches
I’ve mainly used this product to get out fine scratches over body filler and to fill in pinholes and paint imperfections. Works great but you must work very fast. One swipe and it is already hardening. As for the separating, I find every tube did this but if you knead it and squeeze out the initial thin liquid, the rest seems fine. I used a tube that sat in my toolbox unopened for over a year and it was ok.
