Questions & Answers

What could cause my German thyme to turn brown and dry up in places? This winter was pretty mild in St. Charles, MO.

I had some workers in the area replacing siding and the roof in November.
Asked by: Thymefan
Hi Thymefan, That could be the plants natural "die back" if the centers are dying out. Thyme will turn brown at the base and become more "woody". The new growth will be on the outer edges. I hope this helps! Any more questions just check out our website section on Thyme!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Here's why I'm a novice gardener and I've been struggling with keeping the thyme alive. I've tried watering, replanting, keeping it in the sun, putting it in part shade, etc. It'sstill heavily wilting. The aroma is amazing. IhI have trouble keeping it alive.
