Not that I saw, it has a flange lip to avoid back wash of water and you have to bring the wall out with drywall and then put your tub wall liner or tile over the flange lip.

Personal weight is irrelevant, as the person will displace water....If you want a conservative weight capacity..over 1500 pounds.

I purchased both a RIGHT and a LEFT, so i thought i would post the same here. DO NOT BUY THESE TUBS! Well, i guess i should have read the reviews. I have been building for 30+ years, so i am very experienced. I recently bought two of these tubs. Before the first use, one of the tubs flaked a large piece of the coating off revealing the metal beneath. I then noticed what i thought was pieces of hair. It turned out to be multiple hair line cracks. As it would cost several thousand dollars to remove the rubs, re-tile etc, i asked Bootz Industries to have them re-finished in the field. They offered to send me a nail-polish size "patch" which i of course refused. The repair of the finish will cost more than the cost of the tubs. Don't waste your time with Bootz customer service. Deal directly with Home Depot Home Depot has indicated that they will handle the issue, so i hope that they will. I have learned that you should really read the reviews before buying!

I am the licensed contractor of the outfit and head up our small renovation crew. I wouldn't say that we specialize in high-end installations, but we do our best to offer a lot of value for money in our renovations. The pictures included in this review are of a bathroom renovation in our area using a Maui tub purchased at my local Home Depot. I did not pick out the tub myself: the people at HD did. There were no problems with it -- it was still in the box. I've personally handled the bulk of this renovation. I feel I'm at least minimally qualified to handle the work of putting one of these in and I can confidently pass judgment on this tub. It's a great steel tub. You can get exceptional results with this tub. It's about as difficult to install as other steel tubs are. You will rarely make an investment better than this one in home improvement. I will most definitely by buying and installing this tub again.

Paid alot for demo of old tub and tile, install new surrounding tile etc, plumbing and tub install. So happy when finished with new tub installed. 1 week of usage micro cracking in jell/porcelain near tub drain allowed water to cause rust. Tub is cheap and now I need to pull tub out and bring tub back to HD for refund. Entire job must be completely redone..including surround tile. More enormous costs! Furious...deep breaths!

Not actually sure how many stars to assign for this tub, but I want to quickly add that our local Home Depot in Denver CO have been EXCELLENT is resolving a minor issue. Background: before we purchased the 5' Maui tub at Home Depot, I read the 1-star and 2-star reviews here about minor chips to the porcelain finish. I thought "well that's probably a minority of cases, and the tub I get will probably be fine." At HD, while still in the store, we peeked into the cardboard box and from that limited sight angle it appeared fine. However, when we opened the box fully at home, we were disappointed to see a pretty bad chip. See the attached photo. We got on the phone and the local HD rep quickly arranged to have a replacement tub (same Maui, same price) delivered to our house WITHIN 2 HOURS, at no charge, and they picked up the slightly defective tub. I couldn't believe it - all within 2 hours. Props to the customer service at Home Depot - they get 5 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Richard from Disappointed in this product We did a complete bathroom renovation and chose the Bootz Maui bathtub as our product of choice. The first time I purchased the Maui from Home Depot, I opened the box and noticed there already was a manufacturer's defect in which the front corner was left unpainted without the porcelain coating. I returned the product and purchased a new one thoroughly inspecting it for any damages. The bathtub was installed carefully and without any problems, however, less than two weeks later, we noticed that the paint was cracking off from the top edge of the tub leaving the metal exposed. We did not drop anything on the tub or use any abrasive chemicals on it. In fact, we did not even use the tub at all prior to noticing the cracking of the coating. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the finish of this product after having completely renovated our washroom. I called Bootz, and they told me they would not replace it. They are basically going to send me some touch-up paint and have me fix it myself. I will not purchase any products from Bootz again.

I used this in a rental property several years ago and it was so easy we bought one for our new (very old) house. The one thing we did that I highly recommend: before installation we used a couple cans of Great Stuff foam insulation to make the tub have less of an echo and retain heat when full of water. The day before install, we used great stuff on the underside black parts, with the exception of the VERY BOTTOM of the tub (do that later). When installing the tub, you lay a bed of Great stuff on the ground and squish the tub into it securing it in place with screws. Leave room around the drain(s) with NO Great Stuff in the way. Enjoy your well insulated and very durable tub!

Looked at L__e's, local plumbing suppliers, M____ds, etc.....and this fit the bill for us. MADE IN USA, fit with decor, AND extra depth. We did a total remodel, yes, WE did it. A little daunting at first, but we took our time and did it right. This tub is no exception. Thought about cast iron, but the weight, carrying it through the house without ripping walls, smashing fingers, etc..made this a no brainer. We had no chips, no dents, no problems. Install was a breeze. We are planning on buying another for the next remodel in bath #2 this summer. Great value and quality for $$ spent.

My old tub had a straight up back that was uncomfortable for bathing. The Maui has an incline that allows me to lean back for those times you want a good old fashion soak. The bottom is flat and slightly textured, making my showering much safer. At age 70 this is very important to me. I've only had it a couple a weeks and I'm pleased as punch. I'd send you a picture but my grand kids would have to show me how. Thanks Bootz.
