A: Yes, but I would recommend that you use either silicon carbide or diamond instead. When grinding Plexiglass you should do so at a low speed as high speed grinding of Plexiglass will cause gumming of the grinding material and melting of the Plexiglass. You should also use a continuous stream of cool air or water on the surface as you are grinding. You will probably have to buff the Plexiglass after grinding it if you want the Plexiglass to be clear. Keep in mind that cutting or grinding Plexiglass will release toxic vapors so depending on the ventilation provided you may wish to use a cartridge equipped respirator. Paper masks will not protect you from the harmful vapors. Last but not least is the protection of your eyes. Always wear safety glasses when grinding or cutting any material.
A: Yes, I would think this would work. Remember safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
A: I would try it on a waste piece of metal first to see how each reacted.
A: Yes, but it would be easier and quicker if you used a conical shaped one.
A: Thank you for your question. The GP710 is for grinding and shaping metal. It will create the hole be larger once you use this bit. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-267-2499 from M-F 7a-7p CST.
A: I would say yes. I as I have used the grinding cylinder to do similar work already, it proved effective and smooth. I will reiterate that unless the sheet metal is supported, you may get chatter and vibrations. As usual, use proper care and safety equipment, NO SHADE TREE work.
A: Yes, but I would make sure you use a adjustable speed hand tool that you can easily control the speed. I would suggest that depending on the thickness that a slow under 2000 rpm might work the best depending on thickness of the material. This is a 3/4" diameter bit so you may want to get a small diameter to make it easier to control.
