Good for outdoors near dark, much better than red laser or atleast cheap ones.
I was using an off brand red color line laser trying to put starting strip up for siding. That laser kept having problems and was hard to see even in dark outside. When went to do something even a small flashlight overpowered the laser making it quite troublesome to use. After a lot of fits, wasted time on the old laser and then that laser breaking i decided i could do better. I looked at a rotary laser at harbor freight then discovered it is not self leveling and it seemed just about as well built as the one i had issues with. This seemed pricey for a laser level but I knew i wanted a green beam unit so i can see it outside better. I was also fed up wasting time, having to fix mistakes, etc. the other laser was causing. As they say there is nothing more expensive than a cheap tool. I plan to use for siding on house next year and then possibly privacy fence. Seemed like a lot to spend for a few projects, but to me it seems it will solve so much frustration it is worth it to me. I also found that i can use this to ensure all my siding is level as i work up, no need for tape measures, chalk lines, etc. Use some scrap lumber and a step ladder and shoot a line on a lip or nailing fin edge of your siding and you know it is level when you fasten it to the wall. Great for making sure lines across windows and doors is straight too. I have not yet tried this during the day, but around dusk and dark it works great. Even visible with my yard light on and my cordless battery flashlight, my old laser could not have handled either let alone both. Now i can shoot a straight line and see to work at the same time.

The Bosch, 100 foot, self leveling green laser level is a welcome tool in my tool arsenal. The laser level is very easy to use. Basically you mount in on the accessory that you want to use and turn it on. The laser comes with different mounting options. The one thing that is not included is a tripod. That is the route I took. The level mounts easily to a tripod just like a camera would. Once mounted just turn on the level. There are 3 modes, vertical, horizontal, and both. the level will self level within a 4 degree slope, after that the laser will flash and go into incline mode. The other mounts included are a magnet mount and a clamp mount. You can combine the 2 mounts to work together. You can also mount the laser on a nail if needed. Very nice level and very easy to use!

It's expensive but well worth it in the time it will save you if you have enough work or difficult jobs to make the purchase worth your while. I've used a laser level to strike lines for setting wall cabinets, base cabinets, free standing counter tops, hanging mirrors and pictures...you name it pretty much anywhere you'd use a conventional level. You can use this laser level to strike a line up to one hundred feet. Wow! I've also used one of these to set up stringers and railings where it would be helpful to have a wall line. This unit comes in a nice case with a built in holder for the manual. That's helpful bc I'm always looking for my manuals and usually have them rolled up, folded, missing pages, rain soaked, etc. so having the manual handy is helpful to me. I'm using this level to set up the new chair rail my wife wants in our townhouse-see some of the pictures. The level does not come with a tripod but does include the foot to mount the level on a tripod. It includes batteries so it's ready to use out of the box but I wish the batteries were rechargeable. I hope this is helpful to you.

This thing is awesome! I took it to my auto repair shop and used it to align our alignment lift as well as line up some other things. It’ll live in the shop and travel home for various tasks. Well built, solid, nice stand with mounting notch, and a really cool feature is the magnetic back on the swivel stand that attaches to a bracket with a clamp. I do wish the clamp was a little bigger but I understand the intended purpose is more carpentry and general contracting than auto repair. Still a quality tool and a nice case to keep organized. Laser itself is bright and precise. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Bosch, a respected name across industries.

As soon as I got this Bosch laser level, I used it to align the hole positions for the balusters ...
As soon as I got this Bosch laser level, I used it to align the hole positions for the balusters on my stair rail. I already tried to align the holes in the rail and treads using a plumb bob and found that method was too tedious. I used the vertical beam to mark the position of the centers on the treads and the underside of the rail. To get the hole positions in the run direction, I mounted the laser on a camera tripod. To get the centerline hole positions on the treads, I mounted the laser on the L-bracket (LB 10), taped the bracket to a board, and then clamped the board to the bottom of the newel post. The bright green beam helped tremendously in aligning the beam on the steps and rail. The baluster holes turned out perfectly aligned after marking and drilling. · I’ve found the laser level to be very easy to use. A button at the top of the laser allows me to toggle between horizontal, vertical and cross-line beams. It is highly visible indoors with low ambient lighting. It's still visible in bright light but depending on the surface it can be difficult to see in direct sunlight. I haven’t used it outdoors, so I can’t say how visible it is in daylight. The beam width diverges with distance from laser beam aperture. At the aperture, the width of horizontal and vertical beams is 1/8”. At a distance of about 30 feet, the beams expand to a width of 3/16”. It does get a bit more difficult to find the center of the beam as its width expands. I use a piece of diffusely reflecting paper (a piece from a brown paper bag works well) with a line scribed on it to help me locate the center of the beam. · The laser level feels solid, and the rubber molding on the corners and edges are a nice design feature. The plastic carrying case for the laser, L-bracket, ceiling grid clip and operating instructions is useful for storing and transporting the instrument. · The laser was made in China.

I love my Bosch lasers - and all my Bosch tools for that matter. I work alone most of the time and find my lasers really helpful for doing layout work for tile, flooring, cabinets, and lighting. I am working on a garage renovation and wanted to give the green laser a go. Certainly brighter than my red line laser although this laser is not intended for outdoor use - at least in bright sun. There you are better served by a pulse type laser with a receiver. The laser comes with a couple of mounting brackets and batteries in a blow molded case. The laser is self leveling if it is places +/- 4 degrees - but it will also operate in a non self leveling mode which is great for those instances where you don't want everything plumb or level - like stair railings. While the case does a great job at protecting everything, it is a little on the bulky side. Bosch used to offer a case with foam inserts which was nice for keeping the laser protected but also provided enough room for another laser and laser measuring device. I have not experienced any battery issues at all and I tend to leave this laser on for fairly long periods as I work alone. I also like that it has not timed out and shut down as quickly as some of my older lasers do. So how did it do on a real word project - superb! This laser was incredibly useful in laying out 20 recessed lights for the garage project. With just a few measurements I was able to use the line laser to do my lighting layout on the floor of the garage. After marking where the center of the light would go on the floor, I used a dot laser to transfer the point to the ceiling. This made a 2 man job into a one man job. I also used this to layout the flooring tiles that I am installing in the garage. You know that when laying flooring (or tile for that matter) it is really critical to get that first row absolutely straight. And this laser made sure I was absolutely spot on. I still have cabinets to set but these consist of tall cabinets with wall cabinets in between. I will use the laser on a tripod to be sure tat the tops of all the cabinets are precisely aligned. I have found that my Bosch lasers and this laser in particular are huge time savers, allow me to work with a level of precision I can be proud of and allow me to complete projects that would otherwise require another person. When I choose tools, I want something that will make me more productive - getting more done with less effort - and this Bosch laser does just that!

This is a very powerful and practical laser level. I am not a contractor but I could understand why any contractor who has to work with straight and level would want to have one of these. I think as a homeowner who might be doing a lot of DIY projects, this would also be appealing. I think it would be really handy in flooring, framing and especially tile applications. The unit includes 4-AA batteries and is easy to use. There is an on-off switch on the side and a push button on the top to make the laser go from vertical to horizontal to both. There is also an indicator for how much power is remaining in the batteries. The laser is on a self-leveling gimble and it always returns to center if it is an angle or if it gets knocked. The laser is very bright and obviously, wear eye protection and don’t look at the laser. The mounting hardware is really designed for metal applications (metal studs). The clamp only opens wide enough to clamp to the flange of a metal stud (maybe 3/8” opening only). The other L shaped bracket is magnetized on one side for attaching it to a metal stud. It does have a hole for a screw at the top though. The laser itself would also attach to a tripod or something similar. Overall, I think this is a god tool to have for those wanting to do projects where straight and level is key.

What an awesome laser level from a great brand of tools. Simple, sleek, elegant, and very functional. Laser can be seen well even during daylight. Easy to use. Turn it on and select one of the three modes: horizontal, vertical, or both. Feels high quality and rugged. Molded case protects it well when not in use. Impressed with the degree the laser shoots out of this thing, goes back past vertical a little.

You are going to love this Bosch precision leveling unit. Did two jobs the first day with it. The first was to measure the height of my car as I needed to adjust the coil over shocks and it was great. The second was to mark where the electrical line was from the wall outlet to the ceiling. I was able to mark that and install an additional electrical junction box. It is a very bright green laser and very easy to see. It has three different measuring lights...horizontal, vertical and horizontal/vertical together. Comes in a beautiful case to protect the pieces from damage. I have had Bosch units in the past but not this accurate or multi-useful. I love this Bosch laser it will come in very handy for future jobs I have planned. Comes with two other brackets that will attach to tri-pods, metal brackets and shelves. It is also self leveling to provide accuracy. If you need one, buy this one you'll be very happy you did. Highly recommend.

This laser level works quite well. The fact that it self-levels up to four degrees is particularly nice. As others have mentioned, it is a little harder to see the laser if it's outside. It comes with two different devices for mounting and both work well for what they are, but a tripod would be a good investment if you plan to use this very often. The only think I would change is the batteries; it runs on four aa, but having good rechargeable battery (as so many devices do these days) would be a huge improvement

BOSCH 100 FT. SELF-LEVELING GREEN LASER LEVEL is a very nice piece of equipment. I have use a few different laser levels, but not of this quality. The green laser is so much nicer than the old red laser. This one also come with a nice two piece adjustment mount, the mounts have hole so you can screw it to something and a clamp, also a blown molded case.

I've had a red laser level I've used for years but it's never been of much use outdoors or in bright lighting conditions indoors. This Green Laser Level from Bosch is much more powerful and has both indoor and outdoor application. Indoors, the laser is easily visible out to the advertised 100 feet. Outdoors on a partly sunny day I was able to pick up the laser line out to 60 feet. That's a big improvement over my old laser level. This Bosch product comes with several handy mounting attachments, allowing it to be mounted or hung from a variety of surfaces. Most conveniently, it can also be attached to a surveyors tripod or a standard camera tripod. It is self-leveling up to 4 degrees, and can be toggled easily between horizontal, vertical, and crossed lines. The laser has a 180 degree working field. Power comes from 4 AA batteries (included). Overall, this is a very useful, high quality laser level at a decent price - highly recommended.

This high-quality laser level is perfect for creating level lines on one or multiple walls. It displays a bright, clear, green line which allows you to easy place items on the walls ensuring they are level. I prefer this laser level because it comes with the adjustable base that screws onto most any tripod (camera or construction tripod), and I do not have to mark walls with leveling lines. The green display is very sharp so there are no issues with being unlevel as the distance from the device increase. Really is a useful tool, certainly a must if you do kitchens or projects where you are hanging multiple items on a wall/walls.

The Bosch model GLL100-40G is a great self-leveling cross line laser. The green laser is much more visible especially at distances. The laser can be attached to a standard ¼ inch tripod. Its accurate at 30 feet within 1/8 inch. I just recently used this laser on installing chair rail in my home it worked great. I love that it came with everything you need to use it right out of the case. Speaking of cases most tools any more don’t come with a case. The Bosch laser comes with a great carrying case, 4 AA batteries, L bracket and a ceiling clip. The magnet on the laser is very strong and connects to the L bracket securely. This laser is well built and sturdy enough to stand up to regular use at home or on the job site. I would definitely recommend this laser to anyone.

The Bosch 100 ft. Self-Leveling Green Laser Level is a great tool to have for my DIY projects. I used it check the level on a ledger board for a small roof job; the level of windows and treated 2x4 plate on a stem wall in my storage shed. I like the fact that it produces horizontal and vertical and cross line modes. The laser is easy to use and it is well made. It has definitely met my expectations.

In seeking out a laser based on the research I did, it seemed green was the color to go with. The company said it was brighter than standard red beams; many purchaser reviews said it was the way to go for better visibility. The one I landed on was the GLL100-40G and came in a hard carry case. Included was a magnetic L Bracket which attaches to: a tripod (not included), has a hook which can be hung on a screw or nail for surface mounting, a ceiling clip for use on I-channel drop ceilings &/or steel framing. The magnetic part of the laser holds tightly to the Bracket and stays where you put it. Another reason I liked this one was it has an incline mode which allows for laying out staircase & handrails at the proper angle and I will be putting in a staircase requiring a handrail leading to a loft bedroom in the foreseeable future. I will be using the self-leveling feature a lot more than not but needed incline capability. Additionally, I was impressed with the horizontal adjustment knob; it easily adjusts the height in minute increments vs. having to do the old way with your finger. This allows for much finer adjustments at a time. The rubber overmold housing is a great layer of protection against accidental drops. The laser can be set to horizontal, vertical, or both. Very pleased with this laser, would recommend highly.

I have owned a laser level before but this Bosch self-leveling green laser level puts my old one to shame. The green laser is much brighter and easier to see than my old red laser. and there is virtually no set up. mount it on your tripod turn it on and it is totally level and totally plumb without having to adjust anything. It has 3 settings for level, plumb or both. Fits on a standard tripod and comes with a magnetic mount and a clip on mount. that allows easy height adjustment. It also comes with a nice hard shell case to protect the instrument.

I have both the Klein green cross level as well as this Bosch green cross level. The Klein includes a red plumb bob, and that is a really big missed opportunity on this Bosch unit... no plumb bob. It's a simple feature but it adds a ton of versatility to the level when framing. Having said that, the mount for the Bosch is much better than the mount for the Klein. The magnets on the Bosch are stronger and better placed. More importantly, the Bosch mount has a small gear and thumb screw. When you twist the thumb screw the Bosch makes tiny movements up/down or left/right. This is critical and a huge annoyance with my Klein. When using the Klein and trying to hit a certain horizontal mark, I either have to use a string level to find the right spot to hang this laser level at... or I have to guess with 15 trial and error nails. Both are very bright and easy to see indoors, even with indirect sunlight. I think the Bosch might be slightly brighter than the Klein but it's difficult to say with certainty. Both do "ok" outside in direct sunlight, much better than red lasers, but you'll still strain to see it from time to time. I think my biggest complaint with all current cross line laser levels, this Bosch unit included, is that they only think about "new construction" needs when they design the mount systems. When framing a wall, slamming a nail on the opposite wall is something you don't even think twice about. When hanging a series of pictures, the last thing I want to do is put a nail on the opposite wall and patch it later. The five star laser level (which doesn't exist), would figure out some sort of suction mount for use in finished rooms. Both are easy to use, flip the power (lock) switch and press the horizontal line button, vertical line button, or both. The lasers will turn on, float around for a minute until they self level, and then you're good to go. If you have a springy floor though, be careful. The floating lasers will bounce with the floor... so tell your gorilla of a helper to stand still for a minute when you make your marks. Final thoughts... not a bad laser level at all, the adjusting mount is a nice touch, but the lack of a plumb bob really limits functionality.

Commercial grade green laser level. I had tried an inferior "red" light laser prior and it was terrible. This laser on the other hand is easily visible indoors under normal light conditions. It has a strong light which can easily reach the entire advertised distance. It is self-leveling for minor out-of-level conditions, a big plus. Simple to use, set it down, turn it on, select a mode and the green laser lights automatically project from the source. I tried it outside in bright sunlight, quite frankly it struggles under that bright light. In my case when I'm working outside and need a level I use a water level, simple and easy to use. This laser level is great for laying out flooring, in my case I was extending ceramic tile from the hallway into adjoining rooms. Sure I could try and snap a line, but that's difficult working alone. This makes the entire process easy (see pics attached). As I said, this laser level, projects bright green lines which are easily seen emanating from the source, around the room in the horizontal and across the floor and ceiling in the vertical. There are selectable modes for horizontal, vertical or both (cross hair). Overall, this is a great product.

The Bosch GLL100-40G is a handy and professional electronic laser location marking device to project level and plumb laser lines for use either on the worksite or in the home. Through the use of laser technology, it improves the marking location accuracy while it saves valuable time and helps to replace the ole string line and level in most cases. This laser is extremely useful in placing the level and plumb location lines for kitchen cabinets, marking the reference location for recessed ceiling lights, for the level and plumb picture frame groupings, for framing in carpentry construction and the placement of shelves, etc. just to name a few. The unit uses a powerful 4X green laser projection beam that shines up to a distance of 100 feet/30 meters. It should be noted that a bright green laser beam is seen better by the human eye rather than the traditional red laser beam especially when outdoors. The manufacturer states the unit has an accuracy of plus or minus a 1/8” at 30 feet/10 meters. The laser beam can be used to display itself in three different laser lines modes: level/horizontal only, plumb/vertical (up the wall and overhead partially on the ceiling ) only, and both level/horizontal and plumb/vertical (crossline) plus up and overhead partially on the ceiling at the same time. The laser comes with sturdy plastic blow-molded carry case to protect the laser unit along with its accessories that include an extraordinarily strong magnetic mounting bracket and a ceiling mount clip and four, AA size batteries. The laser unit has a great IP 64 (International Protection) rating for light rain and dusty conditions which indicate it is durable for use in the field. Also, it uses Bosch VisiMax™ technology that monitors the unit’s power consumption to maximize line green line laser visibility and to help extend the unit’s battery life. The laser unit, which can fit into the palm of your hand, is completely covered in a heavy rubber molded covering to protect it from impact shock while traveling or in use. The laser uses an internal leveling pendulum system to self-level itself and it will indicate to the user a 4 degree or more “out of level” situation by blinking the laser line. The unit can also be used in the incline function mode when laying out stair handrails. When the laser is electrically turned off, it automatically locks down the leveling pendulum to protect it from damage when not in use. It has a convenient built in 1/4-20 female threaded tripod mounting connector so you can securely mount it to any tripod for use in the field or home. While using this laser unit is rather intuitive, my only constructive criticism is that the Bosch should have better explained, by giving several real-life examples, of how to use their laser unit. Such examples should include the basics of shooting level and plumb laser lines in hanging kitchen cabinets, the placing and leveling of a group of picture frames, in marking the rise angle for a stair handrail, how to shoot a laser line around a room in hanging a drop ceiling, the reference marking for recessed ceiling lights relative to the counter and table in the kitchen, and the leveling of shelves, etc. But putting that aside, the Bosch GLL100-40G is an accurate and professional instrument and well worth the investment.

        Response from BoschToolsAug 31, 2021
Hi there! Thank you for your review and we apologize for any inconvenience. The GLL100-40G range is up to 100ft. If you are using it outdoor, too much light or under sunlight will cause laser refraction, which will cause the laser to not be readable or visible. We recommend to use a laser that is compatible with a receiver if you will need it outdoor. You may return the laser back to the store within 30 days from the purchased date. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

            Bosch GLL100-40G Crossline Laser
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited the day that my Bosch GLL1100-40G laser arrived at my home. The next day I took the Bosch crossline laser to work and gave it to one of my Skilled Tradesmen Supervisors to test. My skilled trades supervisor reported that the Bosch cross line laser works very proficiently and is very user friendly an asset in making measurements. My skills tradesmen wanted me to order them Through a commodity book. I explain to my skill trade supervisor that Bosch has no contract with our development. I recommend that Bosch offer a bid to our purchase department on there power tools for the New York City Housing Authority Skilled Tradesmen.

                Spot on!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I got the level about 3 weeks ago and I have had so much fun with it. This level is extremely accurate with it's laser lines,(tested the line with a hand level)they are right on the money. The stand is also a added bonus to help with with. I know the Bosch brand makes good products and once again they didnt fail with this one. I would highly recommend this laser level to anyone doing major construction projects or someone just doing some diy projects.

Awesome Green Cross, plumb, level laser!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks for checking out my review of the Bosch Professional GLL-100 40G green multi mode laser. Right out of the wrapper (which was filled with product info, nice) the case was impressive, cool looking, but also very functional. The laser has three modes! Cross line, plumb and level settings and that is a great feature. This laser takes four AA batteries with a sturdy but east to open battery cover. The green laser has great visibility indoors , even with bright ambient light. Outside it out performs my red laser, but nothing to brag about. One of the best features I've found so far with this laser is the extra wide and tall field of view, quite a bit more than my less expensive red laser. The laser comes with a strong magnetic mount for the laser and a not so great clamp that the magnetic mount attaches too. I stuck this mount to a stainless steel fridge with the laser cantilevered all the way out and it didn't budge. So if you have something that will hold a magnet this mount is awesome. As for the clamp it can attach to? Maybe I don't understand it lol, but the mouth of the clamp is so small there was nothing I could find that it would fit around and hang securely which is disappointing because the clamp in general is pretty cool with the ability to raise or lower the magnetic clamp when attached. I didn't dock any stars from rating because of this and the reason why is I hardly ever use a clamp with my lasers. I usually use a mono or tri pod. Also this laser is pretty fricking cool and I'm not saying that just because I'm testing this tool, but because I am also a regular Bosch customer and most of my Bosch tools I've purchased myself, even the red cross laser I spoke of. I just purchased that literally about a week before I was offered to test the green laser. Wish I had know...lol Actually I don't think you can have too many lasers, so I'll keep em both. My apologies, but it seems I can't upload any pictures no matter the file size. Please check out my video which would include any of the pictures I would of posted. SinCityScorion
