Customer Reviews

18 Volt Cordless Electric Variable Speed Reciprocating Saw with 2 Bi-Metal Blades (Tool-Only) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I bought this as a replacement for a porter cable I was very fond of. It seems to be better built and has additional speed settings. I really like the built in battery sensors verses the in the tool sensors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Freaking awesome sawzall. I am an HVAC technician, so I cut through old condensers, sheet metal, drywall all the time (tons of dust), and also cut through a 12" tree limb no problem with this thing. I almost use it as much as my impact hammer. The two speed selection is certainly nice, and the "quick attachment" blade chuck is nice too. A few suggestions though for Bosch: 1) Make sling attachment points for this thing. Going up on lifts to cut all-thread and the likes, requires you to sling this sawzall on your back (unless you want to put it on the floor of the lift, and kick it around). I haven't seen a single sawzall with this feature. 2) Make a pocket clip (Milwaukee's sawzall has this feature) for easy stowing on your belt or pocket while you have to free both hands to work. 3) Make some form of trap door to make it easier to blow dust out of this thing. Seeing as how often sawzalls cut through messy materials, dust and other crud easily gets into the air vents on this sawzall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fearsome but handles well I own a bunch of other Bosch 18V cordless tools (drill, impact driver, jigsaw and circular saw) but had not planned to buy this one until I had a major demolition job to do. My wife changed that. She wanted it to cut down a bunch of small bushes in the yard, too big for the hand nippers, but too small for the chainsaw. She was right. It makes fast work of this stuff. She says it is the first power tool I have bought that she is not frightened to use. It is surprisingly lightweight and easy to operate, but very powerful. I also used it to cut up a tub/shower surround that was left from a bathroom renovation, so now the pieces are small enough to take in my car to the dump. It cut through the fiberglass like it was butter. Definitely need a fat pack battery - it won't run long on the smaller ones. I bought Bosch DareDevil blades for it, because I was so impressed with the Bosch DareDevil spade bits for my drill. So far the blades work well and show no sign of wear. I am very happy with it. Another awesome tool from Bosch Tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as it gets for semi-pro This Bosch Li-ion reciprocating saw is superb. I had been using a very good Dewalt 18v regular battery portable saw but was constantly needing to recharge. I switched to the Lithium Ion 18v Bosch system this fall and am very, very pleased with the power, portability, and battery life of this product. Beware, there are several levels of batteries in the Bosch Lithium Ion line. The best, and most expensive was their 3au FatPack. This battery can be as expensive as the saw itself. BUT, in the long run I believe it will hold up well and hold it's charge much longer. This is a very powerful, portable saw. I used it to cut a large grove of Bamboo at the root. Simply excellent. Blade change is simple, battery charges quickly and the large fat pack lasts quite a while. The slim pack battery is great for smaller jobs and recharges very quickly. Overall...very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile With a switch of a blade, makes short work of cutting up small firewood, removing exhaust pipes & mufflers, and other chores. Being cordless, it's easy to use for cutting back poison ivy on our wooded lot. No complaints about battery life, but it's still new.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid product but not satisfied I recently bought this product since HD is running a promotion for any Bosch Power tools and accessories worth $100 or more they have $25 off. Had been waiting for a while to buy this since I have other 18V Bosch cordless tools and needed the bare tool but when I received it was a little too bare, I was surprised that they did not include even like a trial blade to test it. So had to go to the store to buy the blade and test it. The tool is simple and straight forward with 2 speed setting, the speed is basically controlled by locking down how much you can push the trigger in and that's it, more of a mechanical control than any electrical contact, I would rather leave it at higher speed setting and push the trigger as much as I want to avoid changing speed settings frequently. Apart from that the tool feels pretty heavy and solid built. Cant wait to work on a real job and test its performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money i'm no pro by any stretch of the imagination but I can see how you can become attached to this product. I already have the drill but needed a portable saw to do a remodal job at the house. Worked just fine and then I decided to prune some trees and it worked just as well with that job. I am now going to do an bath remodel which will require some major demo work and I believe this will handle the job at hand with ease. Glade I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, lightweight saw I got a deal, a while back, on a bosch 18v lithium ion drill that came with two batteries and a charger, so it was natural to purchase this saw, as it accepts both standard and extended cap. 18v batteries. I really enjoy how easy it is to change blades (worked great with irwin and Milwaukee blades, not sure on others). Obviously, it doesn't have the power a corded model does, but with 2 settings and a variable speed trigger, it comes very close. Some stated that it vibrated to the point of not being comfortable; I did not find this to be the case. I have used it for several jobs around the house and it also seems to be good with battery life, even with the standard size batt. packs. -I would certainly recommend this to others!
