Answer This Question

A:  Jana81, Yes, this is a common application for the Bosch min-tank products. We refer to it as a Booster application. In this application you will run your Hot line from your primary heater into this unit's Cold intake. The shower will pull from this unit's Hot out line. Having this unit close to the shower will significantly reduce the wait time for hot water.

A:  Steve, The model ES2.5 must remain in the upright position with eh connections at the top. One of our other models (ES8) can be mounted on its side.

Q:Do I have to reset or turn on this water heater after a power outage. Living in a rural area our electricity goes out from time to time. An older model from a different mfgr had to be reset after each power outage.

        Answer This Question

A:  Brian, No reset required. When the knob is set to a temperature the unit starts heating as soon as it has power; so after a power outage the unit will just continue to work.

            It only works 2 years…
This will be my 3 replacement, due to the water heater leaking and then basically exploding on the inside of the unit. Damaging it beyond repair. Our floor was flooded, because it happened with we weren’t there. 2 -3 years of usage….but has 6 years of warranty on it that won’t help you when it malfunctions. Sad.

4 out 4 leaked and ruin our cabinets
We had installed four of this heaters in our kitchen and bathrooms over the past few years. This year all of them starting to fail, caused extensive damage to our bathroom and kitchen cabinets, and mold problem. We are very upset that such bad quality product are sold to consumers. We opened the unit up and the interior all rusted. This is total scam.

                It works for a while
It took 3 years and 4 months for mine to die. It worked fine with daily use for those 3 years in my kitchen sink which is on the opposite side of the house from my main water heater. I used this for instant hot water. Installation was easy though I did need to buy an adapter fitting to make the faucet hose fit. What is not immediately obvious is apparently this thing is made with cheap metal that corrodes, so you have to open it up annually to replace an anode rod, or it WILL rust out

For the Kitchen Sink and Dishwasher
Took three gallons of wasting water for the hot water to reach the Kitchen Sink. This worked out perfectly, hot water in like 2 seconds. After we deplete the 2.5 gals of water in the tank my House hot water already to Kitchen to take over.

Easy to install and works great. I actually installed it in the crawl space directly under the kitchen sink. To facilitate servicing the unit and as a proactive way to bypass the unit in the event it fails, I installed valves on the in and out connections and a third valve to pass the master water heater water to the sink. Also have a slip connection on the relief valve pipe for removal.

                    Great until it leaked
This unit is easy to install without the need of a plumber and provides sufficient hot water where it’s needed. The issue that I have is it only last 2 1/2 years before it started to leak, causing wood damage under my kitchen sink. It turns out that Bosch expects the owners to disconnect, drain, remove, inspect, and replace the heating element anode annually. If this is not document, then the 6 year tank warranty is voided. When I removed my heating element, the anode was corroded and had all but disinegrated. Totally not worth the money and damage it caused and Bosch ought to be ashamed for producing a faulty product and an even worse warranty

Tank Water leak after 27 months with 6 years warranty on tank
Water leak all over the floor after a little more than two years. No warranty enforced and Home Depot refused to exchange. Bosch support is terrible..It is not a reliable product and misleading label.
