I don't think it will work, as the RO systems I'm familiar with only supply water at relative low pressure and quite slowly. The heater is designed to work with city water pressures and would not be able to meet the demand when the hot water was turned on. Tapping into the cold water supply prior to the RO system should work fine, however the limited size of this heater would have you running out of hot water rather quickly. Bosch also makes 4 and 8 gallon heaters that would probably be a better fit if your sink doesn't have a hot water source at the present time. This unit is mainly designed as a quick source of a relatively limited supply of hot water.

The only place close enough to the sink available for installation is between the basement and fi...

I HAVE NEVER REPLACED ONE BUT HAD A UNIT FAIL WITH WATER LEAKING FROM THE TANK AFTER 2 YEARS. IT HAS A 5 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE TANK BUT IT WASN'T COVERED BECAUSE THEY SAID ANODE HAS TO BE CLEANED EVERY YEAR. IT IS A CRAZY REQUIREMENT AS IT WOULD COST MORE TO HAVE SOMEONE COME IN AND DO IT THAN THE UNIT COST. THEREFOR THIS IS A THROWAWAY UNIT IF IT FAILS.

Will this work for heating a floor or would it be better to use a tank system?

Hot water does come very quick, depending how far it has to travel. When I am doing the dishes and the ‘hot’ water becomes warm, I turn it off and let it heat up then turn it back on to fill my dishpan.

Would this or the 4 gal tank work on a camper shower?

No, the capacity is very small, expect hot water for only a couple of minutes, not enough for a bird bath. This is not a water heater in conventional terms nor does it act as a waterless tank as the heating element is small. It’s good for washing hands, face, brushing where little water is to be used and where the main water heater is at a distance.

Defective pipe thread causes big problems
Once installation was completed, turning on water resulted in big problems; water spraying out the inlet fitting. Disassembly showed the cause was a defective pipe thread. It looks like a couple of tiny drops of solder or something was in the groove, preventing the fitting from sealing properly even though tight as possible. Debris was firmly attached to thread and could not be removed. Home Depot Customer Service was excellent with item return. Product looks to be what I expected so I have reordered and will try again.

Great until it leaked
This unit is easy to install without the need of a plumber and provides sufficient hot water where it’s needed. The issue that I have is it only last 2 1/2 years before it started to leak, causing wood damage under my kitchen sink. It turns out that Bosch expects the owners to disconnect, drain, remove, inspect, and replace the heating element anode annually. If this is not document, then the 6 year tank warranty is voided. When I removed my heating element, the anode was corroded and had all but disinegrated. Totally not worth the money and damage it caused and Bosch ought to be ashamed for producing a faulty product and an even worse warranty

Tank Water leak after 27 months with 6 years warranty on tank
Water leak all over the floor after a little more than two years. No warranty enforced and Home Depot refused to exchange. Bosch support is terrible..It is not a reliable product and misleading label.

Required hidden rod maintenance for 6 years tank warranty.
Don't be mislead by limited 6 years warranty. My water tank burst after 2 years 5 months and not covered because the Anode Rod has not been inspected/replaced yearly. You have to tear up the machine, remove the anode rod, call Bosch tech support to buy the rod over the phone. Few days with unit tear down for this replacement. Not common practice for home owner with just warm water under the sink. 2 years warranty is good enough for the advertisement so the buyer will make the decision. Limited 6 years warranty is very misleading. Do not buy if you are not handy. Look for 120V/1.8KV tankless instant heater instead of 2.5 gallons.

Easy to install. Its bigger than the picture looks so make sure it will fit under your sink or wherever. It heats up fast. Time will tell how it holds up. I will stay on top of the maintenance. Hopefully that avoids the leak problem that other people left in the reviews.

The heater was easy to install, plugs into regular wall outlet-nice! We were surprised how fast it heats up the water. We wanted a small water heater under a small sink unit. Fits well and it works out great. Very satisfied, great product and brand name.
