Answer This Question
A:Â If someone gets a used sander I wouldn't know, but Home Depot will always take care of their customers. Never have I gotten treated badly by Home Depot.

A: I don’t know if you wrote your question incorrectly? My sander came brand news and works like a champ. The thing is built like a tank. Did you order a refurbished one? The only complaint I have with this sander is that you spend a bunch of money on it and it doesn’t come with a carrying case? If you had a problem with this product I would contact Home Depot directly. They usually do a great job.

A:Â Thank you for your inquiry. The OS50VC Orbital Sander has the sheet lock and utilizes a heavy metal clamp system that will withstand routine use. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

A: Yes. Solid. Works every time. So far I’ve been through 200 half sheets. Love the feature.
by|Apr 8, 2020
A:Â No this is not heavy metal. Clamp appears to have a lever action which bring the paper to tension. What gets rid of the vibration is that the moving parts are light weight. This sander moves the paper real fast. So there is a combination of weight and balance going on here. I have not used mine enough to know if there are situations where the paper will get shifted or tear because it was not held securely. This is a nice tool for your shop.

A:Â I bought my Bosch sander a year ago and have used it two to three days per week for roughly a couple of hours per day. The sand paper clamp system is exceptionally strong, works perfectly, and it's very easy to change papers.
I'm a retiree and for several years have been remodeling an old house. The most challenging project was making the kitchen countertops and a bar from Red Oak. Although the most efficient and effective machine for sanding this wood is a drum sander, I don't have the space for one in my garage nor did I want to spend that much money on a machine for this probable one-time project.
Therefore initially I relied on my palm sander and belt sander. The former wouldn't remove material fast enough and it left deep swril marks in the wood which were tough to remove. The belt sander removes a lot of material quickly and even though I'm very good with it, once in a while I'd gouge the wood again making for more work. Both sanders generated lots of dust.
This Bosch sander is the perfect medium between the palm and belt sanders. The Bosch sanding surface is just a large as a belt sander hence removes material almost as quickly as a belt sander but far more gently with no gouging. And even though it's an orbital sander like the palm sander, the swril marks it leaves with 60 and 80 grit paper are vastly less noticeable and easily removed by using 220 or 320 grit paper (on the Bosch sander, not hand-sanding).
Other pluses: this Bosch sander has a nice long cord (10' I believe), the dust extraction/collection system is superb, vibration rate is very low, and it has a variable speed control. I've never been more pleased with a power tool purchase. It's well worth $300.

First off, this sander works as advertise and is big, heavy, flat and powerful. I used it on a workbench to level the final top which is made of hard maple and cherry. It did exactly what was expected, albeit I hoped it was a "tad" more aggressive. It did take off product fast with 120 grit but I kind of thought it would be faster. Keep in mind that this might be my expectations of a product I never used. I normally use a palm orbital or a belt sander (if I'm feeling brave). But it is very flat and helped me to keep the top flat as well as the sides without worrying about creating indentations or waves that could easily happen when using a smaller palm orbital sander. And the dust collection is excellent! I use mine with a typical shop vac. Adding the paper is as easy as everyone says so another big plus and it does pull it tight. Is it worth the cost? well..... I still think it's a little high but I don't regret purchasing it. God bless!

High Quality Sander with GREAT Functionality!
I typically equate Bosch with quality, and with this sander you definitely get what you pay for. At under $400, this tool has some excellent functionality and gets the job done. A few of the pros include the clamping system for the sander sheets. It is able to get a good strong and tight hold on the sheets and keeps them in place. It is also really easy to change them out! The sheets are nice and large, which helps reduce sanding time, but did not seem oversized. If you've used other sanders, one of the first things that will stand out to you on this product is the reduced vibration. Out of the box, I used this thing for an extended period of time, and compared to some of the other sanders I've used, the fatigue element was drastically reduced. Also, to help between different jobs, there is a nifty variable speed option. Lastly, Bosche gives you the option of using the filter that comes with the product (which I thought was awesome,) or using an included adapter to connect directly into a vacuum to catch all the sanding debris.

Take your work up a notch
I do a lot of woodworking. While I am not a professional I spend several hours a day after work in my well outfitted garage shop. I own about half a dozen sanders - mostly Random orbit and a few belt sanders for heavy stock removal. Almost all of my sanding is done on virgin wood as I am not a fan of refinishing old pieces.
This sander is absolutely amazing. As a preface, I use this for fine finishing grits only (220 and up). When used properly, not a single scratch mark is present. Even with very expensive ROS sanders, I still need to do a little massaging by hand after a mineral spirits wipe-down to reveal any imperfections. I french polish a lot of pieces and a flawless sanding finish is absolutely required. This leaves the smoothest finish I have ever experienced. I would liken the finish left more toward a cabinet scraper than one left by abrasives.
The sander is also a pleasure to operate. The variable speed is sensitive and actually works - unlike a lot of sanders I have used where it is just a polite suggestion and barely affects the oscillations. Loading the paper is always a hassle in pad sanders and frankly the reason I have avoided them until now. This system is exceptionally easy to use. Lock in the back and the front lever properly tensions the paper and locks it securely. It is very simple.
The soft pad is great and works very well for sanding profiled edges. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate dust extraction a solid 3.5 with a vacuum, about a 2 without. I have use some much more expensive ROS sanders that handle dust a bit better, but this is acceptable.
As advertised, the vibration is almost not existent. This makes things both comfortable and is a large part of why the sander leaves such a nice finish. I also noticed it doesn't "track" curly grain as much as others I have used.
You won't believe the difference this makes over even the best random orbit sander. Attached is a picture of an end grain cutting board which is notoriously difficult to sand, and a beautiful piece of curly oak that as been French polished.
This is 100% worth the investment if you are looking for a flawless finish with no rework

Great Sander with Vibration Eliminator!
This is a great orbital sander! I have an older sander that shakes my hands so hard it makes my back hurt and my teeth rattle. The Bosch Orbit Sander seemed to sand just as fast as my old sander. It fits comfortably in my hand. It allows you to sand for hours without feeling the stress and fatigue from the vibrations.
Putting the sandpaper on was really cool. It comes with a plastic loading template to make sure the sand paper goes on the sander properly. Just push the levers on each side to feed in the paper and it fits perfect every time.
I worked on sanding the old red wood planks on my deck. My first run I did without the dust collector on the sander. A thin stream of dust shooting out of the dust collector hole was visible (see photo). I then put on the dust collector (see photo). I was impresses at how much it cut down the dust. After a few minutes of sanding I decided to empty the collector. It was filling up with sawdust. I found that impressive because I have other sanders that don’t seem to collect much sawdust in their sawdust catcher. My next round I hooked my shop vacuum to the sander (see photo). This was awesome! Even after sanding a plank for several minutes, there wasn’t any dust on the plank or in the air around me. The Bosch Orbit Sander even comes with a swivel adapter such that the hose from the vacuum never gets twisted.
The Bosch Orbit Sander even had a vibration control dial on the side. There is a noticeable difference when I adjust the vibration control. This is nice for different coarseness of sandpaper as well as my ability to put weight on the sander.
This will be perfect when I sand all the edges on my hardwood floors since the shop vacuum adaptor or dust collector canister, are a great way to cut down on the amount of dust that gets caught in the air.
Bosch 3.4-Amp Half-Sheet Orbit Sander with Vibration Control is an amazing sander!!!

Good product
I've put around 30hrs on this sander. I really like the low vibration my hands experience and how taut the sandpaper is. The dust collector on this sander is also excellent.

I'm happy with the purchase so far. Project entails sanding hundreds of flooring planks one by one. Apart from having to change sandpaper often which has to do with the quality of the papers and not the machine it is holding up really well. I like in particular that it is not excessively loud, fels fairly ergonomic holding and does not vibrate too much.

Its an excellent sander. I have a custom wood workshop for making high end handmade kitchens. I swapped out all of my Festool sanders for Bosch and am very happy.
