This drill bit is capable of doing what you are trying to accomplish. However, you may have difficulty drilling holes in clay planter pots because they are fire kilned, very brittle and tend to crack when drilled. I have tried this myself before with mixed results. Tip: keep the drill bit and area wet while drilling.

This Bosch 5/8 inch BlueGranite Turbo carbide hammer drill bit worked perfectly in the concrete sidewalk I was mounting a parcel locker to. I didn't need a bit 12 inches long but figured I might need it for something else so I payed the couple of dollars more and got the long one. These Bosch bit are high quaility and they work very well.
