500 Series 24 in. 1.6 cu. ft. Built-in Convection Speed Microwave in Stainless Steel with SpeedChef Cooking

New unit!!!! The CLOCK button is installed with an upside down SETTINGS button!!! An expensive unit for a stupid mistake. Funny but not. $$$ How do you make this right?

We have had this installed for about three months and really like the product. Well made, great features, built with the expected german quality and performance. The big miss on this product is the difficulty of cleaning. The heating elements for the convection function are not removable and they are very difficult to clean around. I had an egg explode in the microwave and the clean up took more than 30 min. I had to use a shop vacuum with a brush attachment to remove the food from around the elements. If you purchase this make sure you tightly cover anything you are cooking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This oven, along the 24" electric convection oven, represented a huge upgrade for us, replacing a countertop Neanderthal microwave that was loud and an oven that was about 40 years old. I didn't know it was possible to be so excited about an appliance. The oven is sleek, efficient and we love it; however, when I did the initial set-up and added the shelf so that we could use it as an oven, one of the pegs broke off (see attached). It was virtually impossible to identify from the drawings what the part number was and I couldn't see any part like it. Eventually I found what I thought was the correct part but I was sent a part that didn't even seem to go with the oven. It was a big disappointment to have this happen before I could even use it, and the shelf isn't really stable enough to cook on it with only three supports. So it is really only being used as a microwave (and a rather expensive one at that). I need to call Bosch and see if they can help me figure out what the part number is. Disappointing that the pegs are so flimsy. Guess one might need to have extras around the house. I look forward to being able to use all of its functions.

I bought this oven along with a Bosch wall oven to replace my 30+ year old ovens that were the old common 24" size. Not so easy to find now a days! I've been using my new Bosch 500 24 in. Convection/Microwave oven now for a few weeks. I am still learning the various options and intricacies to this oven. I like it a lot so far. I use the microwave option for normal microwave stuff. My 9 yr. old great nephew loves to use the "soften ice cream" option. I've used the Convection option a few times and I can see that it will be a great addition to my kitchen. Didn't have room for a big double oven configuration so this is at least another oven allowing more flexibility in preparing big meals. Most of the control panel is understandable without too much reading. However, the timer "bell" is so soft and subtle it simply gets lost in the noise of the fan. Even after checking to see that the "volume" was set at high. Don't like not having a timer alert that can't be heard. I really think the timer/delay start/set end times are confusing at best. Not that easy to get a handle on. I actually ordered a digital timer that has number keys and a loud alert as my work around. Not that I won't use some of the auto timing features it's just that right now it seems like too much effort to figure out how it works. I set the timer for what I thought was 15 minutes in my first attempt and 15 hours later it went off. I just accidentally heard it. Another thing that is difficult for me is the printing on the control panel is so dim and small my old eyes (even with my glasses) can barely read the panel. I enlarged the panel display pages in the user guide and printed a copy to keep near by. One last thing I'm having trouble adjusting to is that the door pulls down instead of opening out. It's the only microwave I've ever had that didn't have a side opening door. I'll get use to it but it is harder to remove larger items as I'm short and so are my arms. :-) In spite of my little dislikes the oven has been great and I would buy it again if I didn't already have it. One last thing is that when I bought this along with a Bosch wall oven the openings were slightly different so I had to order a custom trim kit so that the ovens appear perfectly built in. Bosch or Home Depot did not have any trim kits available for these ovens. The company that makes the custom trim kits is Micro Trim in California. They were expensive but great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We downsized for retirement and did a full remodel of a mobile home... from the foundation to the roof... with the Great Room/Kitchen combo being the center of the project. It took five months and we researched appliances until we were blue in the face. We did not have a lot of wall space and wanted an under the counter Microwave for the center island. After a lot of research we decided we definitely did not want a Microwave drawer. When we found this Speed Oven we really got excited about having a third Convection Oven and broiler. We imagined the device would be the one we used most for convenience. Now we have been in the new home for 2 months. We cannot believe how convenient and fast this oven is. It's large enough for almost any two person meal project and the combination of three cooking methods creates an amazing kitchen tool. It heats up much faster than our Pro Thermador Double oven because it is smaller of course. So we not only are saving time... we're saving energy and money. The 1000 watt microwave is fast, quiet, and the height under the counter is very convenient. We love the fold down door. It's easy to clean... and it's beautiful. What more could you ask for?

I purchased this Bosch Microwave/Convection Oven because of the exceptional performance that my existing Bosch Dishwasher and Bosch Vent Hood delivered. I love both of those appliances. When it came time to buy a new microwave, I didn't even consider any other brands because I had become such Bosch enthusiast, I figured anything else would be a let down. Turns out, the real let down is this Bosch Microwave/Convection Oven. PURCHASING THIS MICROWAVE WAS A BIG MISTAKE. Here's why I want to throw this microwave out the window like the fax machine in Office Space: * Sensor Reheat - it cannot sense to save its life. This microwave will basically get all food hot enough to melt steel, so I never use this feature. Seriously, a plume of steam gets expelled when opening the door if left to complete a Sensor Reheat cycle. (In contrast, the GE Cafe microwave that was replaced by this Bosch had an excellent sensor reheat function.) * Turntable is always on -- it cannot be turned off. If using the convection oven, it's a few extra decibels of noise that isn't really needed in the kitchen. * Unreliable -- the closed door sensor is highly sensitive to the point where I'm constantly loosening and tightening the screws that keep the microwave attached to the cabinet. If they are too tight/too loose, it will not activate the "microwaves" to warm food, but it will still turn on the fan and countdown, almost pretending to be functional. * Convection is unreliable as well -- similar to the door sensor feature, sometimes the convection heats and other times, the fan just blows but there's no warmth. Again, my previous GE Cafe was rock-solid from a dependability standpoint. About the only thing this microwave does well is look pretty. I've only had this microwave for 4 months, and I'm seriously contemplating its replacement. Here's why: I simply cannot depend on this microwave functioning properly. Any chef/cook knows how frustrating it can be to plan a meal, only to have an appliance crap out on them. It's not fun, and it's especially not fun with a device that costs $1,400. I consider if this microwave works as intended, it's a bonus. It shouldn't be this way. If you were a Bosch loyalist and, as a result, are considering this microwave, I would highly discourage it...unless you want to buy mine. :)

Bougth this along with multiple other Bosch products as part of a professional kitchen remodel. Worked great when it worked --which was just about 2 years. Based on other reviews, this seems like a common problem. I expected a lot more for the money and from the Bosch brand than 24 months.
