    current auger bit got dull very quickly. how long do you think this one would last going thru headers ?

    As long as you use the plunge method should stay very sharp. Plunge methood: Set bit and drill hole about 1/3rd and pull bit out clearing out any shavings then plunge back another 1/3rd and so on. This helps keep the bit cool, and helps extend life of bit.

    I want to drill clean 1" hole in dense/oily wood like cocobolo and other rosewoods.

    Great drill bit! I was able to drill in tight quarters through a bunch of old 2x10’s like they’re nothing to run a line across a basement from a small sub panel. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. It’s great for where you can’t fit the 18” drill bits. This picture is only a small fraction of how far I had to go.

    If you need to drill a hole fast, then this bit is perfect. Auger bit was easily able to drill through my benchtop made of 3" maple using a 1/2" drive electric drill. The only downside was that it did not leave a smooth bore hole.

    This is one will do the job if you need to drill a 1" hole and if you happen to run in nail it will cut it like it wasn't there. The case that it comes with is nice. It's reusable and keeps if from bagging around in your tool box. Can't wait to use it again in my next bathroom project.

    I've been happy with most of the Bosch drill bits I've used over the years, and so far this is no exception. It's tip lets you start your drilling location precisely, and it drills easily through wood. The base that attaches to the drill is hex-shaped rather than round, so you know it the drill will grab it without slipping. This drill comes in a nice plastic case you can use to store it in, so it won't be rubbing against other things in your tool box. One thing to be aware of is that the total length of this drill bit is 7.5". You're going to loose about 1.5-1.75" of that into your drill for holding it, and there's about 0.75" at the tip used for starting the drilling process, so you can only go a little over 5" deep for actually drilling a 1" hole. Also note that the maximum-rated speed for this bit is 600 RPM.

    The fiberglass insulation was really easy to use AND it did not fly apart as it often did in the past when installing. Also, the guy in the store helped me to figure and advised on which type I needed, size, and told me not to buy higher rating because all I had were 2 x 4s so I needed the R13. When I finished I had less than one piece left and even with the metal roof you can hear a pin drop in a heavy rain storm. Main thing is the quality of the people working at Home Depot.
    Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, All In One, Good Size & Weight, Light Weight, Long-Lasting
    Cons: nervous from previous usage of this type product.
