Reset the circuit breaker?

Do you have a starter kit for this generator?

If you're inquiring about after-fitting an electric starter, we do not offer a kit of this nature. To inquire about after-fitting a compatible after-market electric starter, I would recommend consulting a local Briggs and Stratton service center.

Answer

Thank you Mike for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The Briggs & Stratton Model # 030675 is NOT CA Carb Compliant so it cannot be purchased in CA. CARB Compliant is: "The Regulation for In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets (Off-Road Regulation) requires fleet owners to report to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), label their off-road vehicles, and reduce emissions from older equipment." For more information on this you can visit https://ww2.arb.ca.gov. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

Is it safe to run a 50 amp RV on this unit. RV has two AC units?

Asked by Patrick C June 15, 2020
1
Answer

Check the watt and amperage requirements of your RV and AC units: The twist lock receptacle powers 120/240 Volt AC, 60 Hz, single phase loads requiring up to 5,000 Watts of power (5.0kW) at 20.8 Amps for 240 Volts or two independent 120 Volt loads at 20.8 Amps each. Use a NEMA L14-30 plug and a 4-wire cord set rated for 250 Volt AC loads at 30 Amps.

Works great for back feeding the house when the powers out. Once it had a few hours of running on it, it starts better and runs more smoothly. Alot stronger than my duromax mx4,500e, plus cleaner power output.

Arrived damaged, so returned it. Even if it arrived intact I still would have returned it because it simply is TOO LOUD! To its credit its way cheaper than the Honda, but in the end what mattered to me most was quality and noise efficiency, so I bought the more expensive Honda

I got conned into buying a BS generator when my 20 year old Mitsubishi stopped working during a power outage. I figured it was about time, so I ordered the Q6500 BS generator. While I was waiting, I took a look at my broken one. I pulled off the valve cover, and the rocker arm nut fell off. So I adjusted the valves, and started it up, ran great! So I figured I had a back up. I get the Q6500, and no more power outages, so I put the oil in it started it up, and was impressed with the quietness of it. I put it under the shelf, and about a month later, I moved it to another spot in the garage. It had oil under it. I took a pic of the stain after cleaning it up. Thinking it was probably some I may have spilled when filling, as it had a plastic case around it, I waited a few days, but it still leaked in the new spot. I took it to the local dealer, and they were not happy to see it, and told me it would be $80 to look at it. I said it has a warranty. They said we have to determine if it qualifies. I said, how can it not, its never been used, and I just got it. It's leaking out and there is no damage visible, and there is no evidence that it has been used. They said, Briggs and Stratton is hard to work with and they often deny claims that they thought should have qualified. My heart sunk, I just dumped a thousand dollars into a piece of junk that I really didn't need. I think the leak can be fixed, but ever buying a Briggs and Stratton toilet brush would be far and few between. These guys are creepy to talk to on the phone! Total rotten attitudes.

We're sorry you had this experience. The Q6500 does have a 2-year warranty time that starts from the date of purchase covers any manufacturing defects in the product. We do need an authorized service dealer to do a warranty inspection to determine if there was a manufacturing defect or if the problem could have been caused by something else (shipping, etc.). You may be required to submit a deposit for the diagnostic which will be refunded if it is determined to be a warrantable repair. Because the diagnostic inspection has to be done in person, we can not make any warranty decisions over the phone or online. If you have any questions once the service center's investigation is done, please contact our customer support while the unit is still at the service center. You can contact our support center at 800-743-4115.

It arrived with a broken plastic wheel due to poor packaging. I had a difficult time finding a phone number for B&S that you can speak to a human on (go ahead and give it a try). Once I got a human on the phone I explained the wheel was broken. He said they would mail me a new one. Great I thought... well 10 minutes later they called me back and said it was on backorder. Its been well over a month and still no wheel. Its real fun dragging this 100+ pound thing around without one wheel. Hey B&S how about grabbing a wheel off the factory floor and shipping it to me? I managed to shim the side without a wheel to test the machine. It would barley run my 1hp well pump without bogging down. I had my house lights on and a cell phone charging. When the well pump turned on the lights dimmed for a second or two and once they came back to full brightness I heard my cell phone beep like I just plugged it into the wall to charge. So Im guessing thats its limit a 1hp well pump. I ran it testing different circuits in the house for 5 hours. Then changed the oil per the manual. Well a few days later I found a small puddle of oil and a drip coming from the oil pan plug. So I tightened it and wiped it down. Well a few days later theres a bigger puddle of oil and the plugs wet again. Please note this is not my first time changing oil on an engine. Not sure why its leaking but paying $1000+ you think it wouldn't make a mess where you park it. Add a better gasket or add a foot pound torque required for the oil plug in your manual. While it was running I noticed one of the plastic panels rattling. Upon further inspection I found the panel incorrectly installed from the factory. The panel was not sitting in the track and instead it was tucked under the lip it should sit on. I was able to unscrew the panel and correct it but the chinaman installing it should have noticed this or at least quality control. This left a small cosmetic gouge in the panel. I had a pamphlet that came with the generator that offers a fuel stabilizer or a $10 gift card for registering the product. Well I registered it online at the website and nowhere did it mention any $10 gift card or Fuel stabilizer. So I just gave some company a bunch of personal information voluntarily in hopes for $10. Just a warning to readers no $10 gift certificate and probably spam mail for years. I guess I'll have to hunt for that phone number again and ask customer no service where my wheel, $10 gift card is and why the thing is leaking oil. Im not a satisfied customer.

What you are describing is not typical of a new inverter. Your warranty covers against any manufacturing defects for a time frame of 2 years from the day of purchase. Please take the unit into an authorized service center for a diagnostic inspection. If a manufacturing defect is found the dealer will file for a warranty repair. Follow this link: http://bit.ly/14yWuSi for a service dealer locator. Please be advised, the $10 gift card was a legitimate promotion that ended in October 2018. The information you provided will be kept confidential and will not be shared with any other manufacturer. We welcome the opportunity to discuss any issues you may have and would like to work with you towards a satisfactory resolution as well as ensuring that you receive the replacement wheel. Please contact our customer support department at 800-743-4115 and request escalated assistance.

I purchased this product on November 2. It arrived on November 8 with a broken wheel. Apparently it was damaged in transit. I immediately called Briggs & Stratton support who said they would send a new wheel out. Its 11 days later and I have not received a replacement wheel or heard from Briggs and Stratton. Briggs & Stratton have skimped on quality in favor of keeping weight down. The outside case and wheels are made of plastic. This would be fine if they decided to better package the generator for transit I am hopeful for the generator but at this point am unable to wheel it out of the garage and test it with my home transfer switch. Hoping that the replacement part comes before the next noreaster!

Bought this after Hurricane Hermine hit and have used it for 3 power outages since, the last being for over two days of outages related to Hurricane Michael. I am not experienced with generators but having an older person in our home I felt I needed to ensure comfort and routine could be maintained and that required a generator. For Hurricane Michael, I used this generator with a Reliance transfer switch (10 switches including a 30 amp) and it performed wonderfully. It was run for about 12 hrs for two days and about 4 hrs a third day. Easy to start. Easy to maneuver around. Once started, we could just forget about it. WE ran it at 25% capacity the majority of the time and it lasted 15 hrs on 5 gallons. We could not hear the generator from inside our house. Very pleased with this purchase.

Whole house emergency power
Customer review from briggsandstratton.com logo
Bought this July 2018 after a recent power outage. Hooked up to the house, using generator interlock, 240 outlet in garage, utility power return alert and wattage/voltage/amperage meters. It will handle, water well, refrigerator, microwave, lights, furnace and powers computer, TV and recharges devices. It handles all our needs for a long term electrical power outage. So far, we are very happy with the results. Unit is quiet when compared to similar engine powered products, like lawnmower, power washer, log splitter etc..... we should be able to keep it running and let the kids go to sleep at night.

Very portable and quite. Does the job After much research, I decided to purchase an Inverter generator mostly because of its compact size and less weight. I choose the B&S Q65 Quiet Power because of the many good reviews, the many years I’ve had lawn mowers with B&S long lasting engines, and especially because of the Quite Power button. I’m so glad someone in the industry has recognized the need to make lawn tools and equipment quiter. I’ll never understand how a 400 HP automobile can run whisper quite while a lawn mower or weedwhacker can be heard several blocks away. But back to the Inverter. I only had a little trouble getting it started the first time. Following the instructions, I pulled out the choke, turned the switch and pulled the crank. Nothing for many tries. Finally, letting it sit for a while, I called a nephew who has the same inverter. He said just pull out the choke once and push it back in. Then try starting it. Well this worked like a charm. He explained to me that leaving the choke out may flood the engine not allowing it to start. So now, when I start it I pull out the choke once or twice and push it back in prior to pulling the crank handle. This method has worked every time. I would suggest to for future models to install a steel loop or something welded to the frame where I could pass through or connect a chain or steel cable in order to prevent theft (or at least make it a little more difficult to steal). It’s only been a week since I’ve purchased the Inverter but so far, I’m very happy with it. I’ve simulated power outages and have powered 90% of the house (980 S.F. house) including all room lights, basement lights, sump pump, refrigerator, TV and microwave. I will update this review after my next power outage.

1- A good investment for the price compared to others brands. 2- Size & weight is acceptable and reasonable. 3- Poor engine supports to frame causing the generator to vibrate and walk when a load is applied (cradle with suspension is recommended). 4- Don't abuse the use of the choke to start the engine, otherwise the carburetor will overflow the gasoline and will be very hard to start. 5- With the QPT switch in ON and a small resistive load (80W) the RPM goes extremely low causing the voltage to drop around 105VAC (see picture), I think this isn't normal. Note: 80W was from 2 halogen bulbs from my garage door opener.
