What is the advantage of, or disadvantage of the non compliant carburetor? & I heard the bottom overflow oil plug tends to come loose. Why is there two ports of entry for the crank case oil. The engine made in China but, by which manufacturor?
Asked by: Popeye
Carburetor no problem for me. Drive wheel control linkage substandard resulting in inadequate performance in reverse. Maybe an adjustment will help.

Customer Reviews

Steerable 30 in. Two-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good Picked this up near the end of winter. Lots of early adjustments to make - cables and controls. First o/c was a challenge - oil drain cap locked on at factory. Unit may be hard on belts, but only time will tell. Blows snow good. Lowes could not care less about you once you purchase this unit. Many nice features. Came assembled, which was nice, but there was oil everywhere...as if it had been spilled on the machine and not cleaned up very well. The grip-warmers are a nice touch, and this thing starts easily and throws snow a mile.

It has a wonderful heft, with just the right balance. The BIG 30" WIDTH means you're done in a flash. The two-stage design is better than a three-stage... Just try a three stage to see what I mean... that third motion is a GIMMICK. Those metal skates will mark your expensive concrete driveway, but they'll last a long time; if you're handy you could install composite skates instead. The cutting edge is easily renewable. The mechanical guts of this thing are wonderfully heavy duty. It has all the bells and whistles - electric start, power steering, great traction, powerful impeller, LED lighting, hand warmers, and a super-conveniently placed chute direction control right there on the dash. Three and one-half turns moves the full 200 degrees. NOW FOR THE CAVEAT! Oh Briggs & Stratton, you did so great, why didn't you add a tensioner to the chute control? Start the engine and the chute swivels freely all on it's own, just from that tiny bit of vibration. I solved that by buying two "wave washers" (they're a kind of warped spring metal disc) and I put one under and one over the chute gear. Problem solved! ONLY ONE OTHER COMPLAINT: Set up is NOT a breeze. If you're quite handy you'll get it done, but not in five minutes. Overall, I'm crazy in love with this, but I simply had to write in and warn others about the pitfalls.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Since purchasing this new......I have used it four times only. It has broken down twice in that period of time. I would not recommend this machine. Also if you live in remote areas it is hard to get it serviced on warranty.

However, the cables that control the drive wheels don't reliably engage, particularly in reverse position. My older Ariens had springs in the that system to apply the correct tension to the drive system. I think that this unit need adjustment to perform well.

I had a tracked previously, and although this particular model appears to meet the advertised abilities, if I ever purchase another, it will be a tracked model again. ***nothing specifically prejudicial to this particular make model,,, it is just that the wheeled models are inarguably inferior to the tracked snow blowers.
