Will this spreader handle pelletized Limestone?
Asked by: NCDave
Yes. I called the customer support line since it didn't have that particular product listed. They told me to set the spread control on 4 for the limestone producers recommended application of 40 lb/1000 sf. As it turns out, that setting should be around 8 for that particular application.

Had major issues first season with it getting clogged but assumed it was the type of fertilizer I was using (to course) Purchased very fine fertilizer this year but when I retrieved the spreader from INSIDE the barn noticed rust and the hopper cover had lost nearly all of its ability to snugly fit on top. After filling the hopper a repeat of the first use experience. Had to stop about every 20 feet to adjust the discharge. Of course each time it left a small pile of product that’s going to burn a spot. Keep in mind that each time I stopped I had to get off the tractor so it took much longer than it should have. And, because of the issues the material didn’t cover as much as it should Going to be interesting to see the results. Won’t buy another one of these but maybe use some of the parts (that aren’t rusted) for another project.

Big thanks t... 5 stars based on expectations from my reading the product reviews before purchasing. Big thanks to all of those who took the time to review it. Assembly took me some time. The instructions were good over all. Both they and videos on line worth while. They could be improved and need to be reviewed carefully by their documentation people this includes the still images in the video. Some minor tripping points maybe watch someone assemble it without ANY coaching. I photographed the "blister pack" of hardware ... came in helpful later. The prior reviews were on the money I had my bungee cord ready for the lever. I drilled a hole in lever and added an eye bolt to the hopper so I could open and close the gate via cords from my zero turn. We have sloping rough ground and tipping was not a problem. This had been a problem with other spreaders. The hopper emptied pretty good but then again our ground is not smooth so you folks with those nice flat spaces will have to deal with some left in the flat of the hopper. Spreading pattern I'd say is adequate. Got it earlier this spring used it with various applications ... total area of application probably in the range of 2 acres. I like to be able to service my equipment. To my knowledge the gear box has no means to add lubricant. I'll probably order some spare bearings for the axle as they are plastic. I checked and I think they carry parts for the product they sell for 5 years after. Time flies when you're spreading. Yes, it meets my expectations... but read all of the reviews first.

Won't repeat all the other positive reviews but did notice the following things. The welded, heavy-duty steel frame is quite solid and doesn't warp like bolted-togerher ones will. Strong materials produce machine that feel substantial and moves smoothly. Excellent design let's you operate if from riding mower seat. Assembly instructions and drawings are the best I have ever seen for any device! Packaging the assembly hardware in the sequence that it is needed is pure genius. I look forward to many years of service from this machine.

Was about 60% done when I discovered the axle and gearbox wouldn't line up to insert the locking pin. Poor QC and construction. I had to disassemble the whole unit, box it back up, and return to the store. Big waste of time and energy!

The instructions were great. The only problem I'm having with the spreader is after you set the flow control and you are towing it, the flow control handle will move back to the closed position. I ended up using an elastic cord to hold it in place. I grew up on a farm and used several kinds of spreaders and every one of them had a ratchet type of setting control that held the lever in place. You might consider this type of device on future models. You might even offer an upgrade on units that have been purchased. Other than that little problem you have made a great product that sure beats pushing around 45 lbs. of fertilizer. I have had the spreader for about 2 months. Thanks, Bill

The instructions were fair, much better than something out of China, but could still use some improvement. Almost everything fit properly. The bolt thru the transmission hub that ties it to the axle didn't align properly, but the plastic hub was easy enough to drill out. Some reviews mentioned trouble with the feed lever closing on it's own but I had no problems with that.

The assembly instructions are a total disaster. Most of the numerous little pieces in the transmission, etc. should have been preassembled ito allow the average person to easily assemble. My friend an I assembled the unit. We are both mechanically inclined and it was not a quick, simple assembly. Some of the parts are really inappropriate for the intended use. The wording on the instructions differ in several places. The hairpin cotter should for the axles should be changed to another type cotter which is straight and does not require improvising in order to install. For a large company you should select 4 or 5 people at random. Put them in separate rooms and pay them to assemble the units. Then you can learn from the problems they encounter and correct things on your side. I assure you this spreader is not an easy assembly and it certainly should be.
