Questions & Answers

Is the housing metal or plastic?

Asked by: Maddy
I purchased and installed one JUST LIKE This one and it works VERY well on Metal Covered Mobile Homes (roof Included and they work great. A friend of mine never knew how these worked after installing on on his House and when he took me to his house to show me that all it did was make it real Humid AND HOT, I had to tell his to open some windows because THEY DON'T WORK LIKE AIR CONDITIONING UNITS. It Exchanges Hot Air With Cool Air and with the windows all closed, Everything felt Wet And the Air Reminded me of when I was in Mississippi. He thought opening windows, he was going to be trying to cool off the outside air like a regular A/C Unit. But as for Your Question, You couldn't get as good of a way to keep Your Electric Bill Down And Keep Nice and Cool Even with Metal Siding And Roof, Unless he did something very expensive, like putting in Central Air Conditioning, Then he could close the windows And Pay Up The YEN YANG for Electric Bills. Works just as well with Wood and Shingles On the Roof. HOPE THIS HELPS.

What about 1800 sq ft

Asked by: Roberconley
Humidity greatly affects evaporative cooling capability. This cooler could cool a 1800 sq foot home to 75-80 degrees on a 95 degree day IF the outside humidity was 20% or less. But it couldn't cool the home that low on a more humid day. On a 10% or less humidity day this cooler could keep the home around 75 degrees on a 100-105 degree day. Conventional air conditioning is needed in summer climates where the midday and afternoon humidity typically runs above 30%.

Can this cooler be put on a timer?

Asked by: Stcusa7
I've purchase simple 24 hour timers to make it turn off and back on during the hot time when I'm away from Home and even a cheap 24 hour timer always worked for me, But I may have only been lucky that I didn't burn out my timer, Son if You have a pet You don't want to have him/her die from the heat/ You may want to buy a higher Amperage Timer to make sure it won't stop working while your away from home and make your pet feel or be real sick or even dead, Check the Amps on the Cooler and compare with the cooler. Just make sure the Amps are higher on the Timer than the Amps of the Swamp Cooler

This is our 4th evaporative cooler. This is BY FAR the best one we've owned! Not only can it handle the hottest days, it's INCREDIBLY well built! If the bearings freeze, (happens after a few years) these can be replaced! GREAT airflow and QUIETER than we expected! Remote is small and we're worried about losing it, but it is a huge plus. You can operate it manually, as well. That's something Home Depot could not confirm or deny when I called. So very pleased with this unit and consider it money well spent. Definitely will recover the money spent in savings from central A/C. We've run it for about a month, so far.

Powerful air flow yet unit is quiet and unobtrusive - about as quiet as a quietest available conventional window air conditioner . Cools best with aspen pads - I buy the 32x36 aspen pads at home depot and cut them with strong scissors to a size that fits the BW5002. The replacement floats and water pumps sold at Home Depot also fit the BW5002, with minor modifications. I buy a mesh water pump filter at Home Depot too to help prevent the water pump from sucking up aspen pad debris. The cooler set up instructions are not the best in regard to clarity and idiotproofness so a swamp cooler novice may make some mistakes installing the float and water supply line to the cooler.

I replaced a 40 year old swamp cooler of similar design purchased from Sears. We originally had Sears install air conditioning in our Denver home but it proved to be innefective in cooling the house and in 1977 the air conditioning increased our electric costs by $80/month. So Sears replaced the air conditioner with a window swamp cooler at a cost $250 in 1977. So now we have a Brisa that cost about $500 in 2018 and our electric utility company sent us a $200 rebate so the net cost was about $300. The Brisa cools our 1500 square foot house extremely well and I went with the model that uses aspen pads instead of the synthetic pads because they are very efficient and cost far less to replace.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not made in the USA! We paid for a product that is made in the US. We wanted the best American product. To support our local economy and to create jobs. Instead, we got an American metal box with only components made in China and Mexico! Not what we paid for! do not write made in the USA if it isn't!

On a 95 degree day it works superb on low fan setting. Unbelievable how quiet this unit is (inside and outside). The install was easy and all the parts are of high quality. I'm glad to have spent a little extra for this cooler, a great buy!
