"3/4 FIPT" leaks
No Matter what I did how excessive of an amount of pipe tape I put on the fittings leaked. Its annoying that I have to buy a mounting bracket separately to start with but the constant leaking is the nail in the coffin.

Product just doesn't live up to expectations. It came with a fairly good carbon filter. It lacks any method of securing it to a wall or stand and relies solely on the connection to the existing plumbing for support. My location only uses PVC plumbing and I'm fearful of exerting too much force. On the good side the filter is easy to change and is the standard type of filter so replacement is a no brainer. The filter housing is clear plastic so it is easy to see when the filter is collecting sediment and needs changing. It also has a bypass valve for what is supposed to be an easy swap out of filters without losing water flow to the residence (a little tough to operate especially since the product is 'free standing' and I am fearful of exerting force and possibly breaking the connecting and supporting plumbing). Came with very good instructions.

Plastic 3/4 in connection internally cracks.
This is my second one in 2 years. Surely the plastic 3/4 in connections should not internally crack after 1 year. Did not over tighten and used teflon tape and hand tightened and 1/4 extra turn. Crack is not visible on outside.

      really wanted to like it
I’ve has this installed for about 18 months now but will be taking out due to several major problems. The first was at installation where not only does it not come with the cheap bracket - which in my case meant another required trip to the store while my water was still turned off - but the way it mounts to the unit is questionable at best. Instead of screwing to the unit, the bracket relys on being threaded through the inlet and outlet transitions. Poor design. Once installed, the bypass valve is almost impossible to turn against the water pressure. Not a huge problem for me as I have a shut off right next to it. But that is a major feature that is more or less useless. And the main reason I’ll be tossing this is the actual filtration. First the entrance and exit from the chamber are incredibly small and do produce a noticeable drop in water pressure even with no cartridge installed. Not massive, but still noticeable. The second is that the filters clog super fast. I have to replace them every 2 months. We’re on city water in Seattle - already with clean water - with all new pex feeder lines from the street, and we still clog and suffer huge drops in pressure every couple months. And this is a two person household.

        Working as was expected
We've had this installed for atleast 4 yrs. Other than the cheap plastic wrench they give you for tightening and loosening it has been working just fine.

          Leaks and bad taste
I had two problems with this unit. 1) It gives off a rubber taste that makes the water taste like summer garden hose water. The two rubber gaskets in this appear to be the culprit. 2) Like many other reviews it leaks. Side Note: You have to buy the mounting bracket separately, another negative.

I almost gave it a perfect score except one thing I didn't like. You have to thread in long threads otherwise it will leak unless you use a lot of plumbers tape.
