Approximately how large of a room will this heat? What type of power switch does it have?
Asked by: Robmchap
It's designed for a full bath, but it's pretty slow about heating the room up enough for me so i use an additional space heater. It doesn't have a power switch, it's wired directly into the house wiring. I replaced my vent fan with this heater and just used the existing wiring and switch on the wall.

Does this do a better job of heating a small bathroom than a heat lamp? I have a heat lamp and I must stand under it to get any benefit. I was hoping this would throw more heat around the small area. Usually, the central heat in the rest of my condo would also heat the bathroom, however my condo complex here in San Antonio was hit by a tornado and our gas has been turned off since Feb. 19, 2017 pending each condo owner complying with city inspections, etc. I'm cold!
Asked by: babs
YES. The heater has a fan that circulates air and gives you a better area heating .it takes longer to heat up than a heating lamp because it has a heating coil like an oven does.

Can this be mounted in a drop ceiling?

Asked by: Kurt
It needs to be secured to a junction box in the ceiling. Doubt a drop ceiling would work.

Has a great look to it. Easy to install. I replaced a unit that was probably 30 to 40 years old. Only negative is that the protective cage on the new one is a lighter aluminum and when you turn on the fan you can hear a faint rattling as the cage vibrates. It may work itself out with use but just the initial notice. Also has a very reasonable price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product does not measure up to Broan's reputation. I had ,1 possibly, a model 154 ( it had wire heating element) that lasted over 20 years. Another identical one that lasted about 10 years. Then I purchased 1 that lasted 10 minutes and another one that was a replacement that lasted another 10 minutes. While reading troubleshooting guide I see that it is designed to run for 15-20 minutes and then the thermal couple shuts it off and cannot be rest. The first 2 would shut off but restart when it cooled off. Very poor design. Thermal couples a should be designed to have the capability to restart. Unfortunately, I have not found another surface mount available or I would purchase it.

It works well, It has been upgraded since my last fan. the last fan had a spring that would heat up, this one appears to be a solid bar. The heat comes out nearly 360 degrees from this unit and will well heat a small to average size bathroom. It appears to be a very well made product.

This ceiling heater was installed in our bathroom that is approximately 36 square feet and it does not supply enough heat - even if you close the door to the bathroom and let it run for 15 minutes before taking a shower. I would not recommend this product. Very disappointed!

This was smaller than the one I replaced so I had to repaint ceiling. It works great except it is a little louder that the one I replaced. Over all I would say that it is good replacement.

Same as one that existed in house when built in '70's. However, could not find one same size to prevent cutting bigger hole in ceiling and doing some rewiring. Positive - does what it's supposed to do quite well.

It is a little smaller than I thought but is doing what it’s supposed to do. I would like the fan to run awhile after you shut off the heat in order to cool the unit off.
