Questions & Answers

Does this unit need a dedicated circuit?

Asked by: Will
The safest answer to your question is yes. Logically, it depends on where you plan on drawing the power to operate it from. If you are using a 120 VAC, 60 Hz source you need to supply a continuous load of 8.3 Amps. If supplying power with a 240 VAC, 60 Hz source you will need a continuous load of 4.2 Amps. Your source of power, in either case, needs to supply sufficient power to all the items serviced by the source without exceeding the circuit protection device (breaker/fuse) providing the service. If you know all of the power ratings of all the existing devices/loads currently connected to the breaker/fuse you can add them up and add in the heater load requirement. If the figure exceeds the rating of the breaker/fuse you planned to use, you need a dedicated circuit. Always..................SAFETY FIRST!

The unit can be used in the bathroom with proper location and electrical safety rules, and code, observed. If you cannot insure proper safety, electrical requirements and standards, have a professional install it.

What are the dimensions I need to cut into the drywall to install this ?

Asked by: Ada45
Open the box, take out the installation plans, read the rough-in dimensions and cut the wall opening per the dimensions. Make sure to supply the correct wiring and fuse box connections. The finished trim face is larger than the rough-in opening, so it will cover the enclosure. Just read and be careful. If done right, there should be no need for repainting the wall cut-out.

Needed a unit to fit an older wall opening and this was as close as I could find. Looks fine, however the fan/blower is very noisy for a drum type fan. The fan is the weak spot in an otherwise nice unit. I will try to find out why there is a rattle/rumble in the fan assy. just to see if I can make it more acceptable.

According to site, 1000-watt was adequate for room size. Would advise anyone to do the calculation but then get the next size larger, 1500-watt in this case.

Also, it is quite noisy, with a loud rattling sound. Finally, it can only be wired in from one direction, which can make it quite difficult if you are replacing an older heater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from smaller than described Nice unit, but I was trying to fill a hole from an old unit and needed all the 17" by 15" it claim to be. The unit is really only 15' by 13', so it was a little short for my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heats and heats fast! Bought this model to replace an old radiant heat type during a bathroom renovation. I have a relatively small guest bath, but it sure gets the job done quickly. I was rather troubled to see that the grille was some type of plastic, even though it is fairly attractive, and wondered about how it would withstand the heat; but it has so far. I purposely put the heat on full blast for a good hour or so and no discoloration or warpage was noted. I guess only time will tell, but I still would recommend the product.
