The fan seems powerful, but the feature that I really like is the light. It is bright enough to light up the whole shower. I wired the fan and the light separately so they can be used independently, but they can be wired together to both turn on simultaneously if that is how your wiring is already set up. It would have been nice to have a gasket included to seal around the unit where it is placed in the ceiling. I had access to the attic, so I installed the unit from above, but it would have been relatively simple to replace an old unit with this one from below.

Love this little guy!
First and foremost, this fan is QUIET and the light is BRIGHT! It is sleek, small, unobtrusive and modern. There is no hum or vibration with the fan; just the whoosh of the air being sucked out.

While the light is plenty bright with 800 lumens, it is a cool 3000K white light. I myself would prefer it to be a warmer 2700K light.

Read the installation instructions CAREFULLY:
1) You need to remove the metal plate the fan is mounted on INSIDE the housing to install the housing. Be sure to only unscrew the 3 nuts on the plate and remove the entire unit intact. Do not remove the nuts holding the plastic fan housing, which are located right next to plate nuts.
2) The illustrations seem to indicate you can only install the unit with 1 side against the joist. You can use either side. Note though that the small screw that holds the wiring plate sticks through the housing on that one side, which could make it difficult to reinstall if that side is against the joist.
3) Be sure the housing screws are completely screwed into the joist. If not, they will interfere with the reinstall of the fan unit plate.
4) Be sure the wiring plate is fasten into the clips on the housing that hold it in place on each side of it. The wiring plate should slide into place as long as each side is in the housing clip. If not, it will interfere with the reinstall of the fan unit plate.
5) Note the 'step' on the white LED driver assembly. Again, the fan unit plate can get caught on it during the reinstall.
6) There is a single, one-liner in the instructions: "Both the fan and LED light can be put on one switch." There is no wiring diagram for this. For a novice DIY person, figuring this out could be daunting. Nor does it show you how to wire it to a non-Nutone/Broan switch for separate light and fan control.

Very Nice Upgrade
I've done a considerable amount of upgrades to my home since it was built four years ago but really never paid any attention to the bath exhaust fan. The fan that this one replaced is a name brand but it is one of the cheaper models.
This NuTone 100 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan was a very nice upgrade. The fan is simple but the ease of installation will depend on the home it's going in. I placed it in our master bath on the second floor of our home. The insulation in our attic is 16 inches high so it took some time. This fan requires a 4 inch duct which the old one didn't have. Uncovering the old duct, replacing it, then covering it back up with insulation was the longest step for me.
My old fan was 70 CFMs but surprisingly much louder than this one. I've replaced about 80% of the lights in my home with LED lights so this was a welcomed addition. The light from this fan is more than sufficient to shower by so there is no need to turn on the main light with four bulbs. Just to note, it is possible to operate the light and fan separately but that requires additional wiring and a special switch. At any rate I highly recommend this fan and plan to get another one for my kid's bathroom.

Bright light, quiet fan
I replaced an existing bathroom fan/light assembly with this one. There are no instructions for replacing an existing fixture, only for installing as a new fixture in either new construction or existing construction.
Installing in existing construction requires access from above and adjacent to a joist. It uses 4" ducting, so I had to replace my existing 3" duct. It must be installed in a ceiling - wall installation isn't permitted. The LED light is not dimmable.
The vents around the sides of the grill allowed rough edges of the drywall cuts to be seen, so I had to remove the grill and clean up the old cuts to conceal the edges.
Once installed I was pleased with how bright the light was and how quiet the fan was.

Love this fan
I replaced an exhaust fan in the bathroom which had no light with this
model. It really lights up the space and looks really nice. It even adds
light to the rest of the bathroom. The whole square around the
perimeter lights up. I am so glad I got this!
