The housing is 14-1/4" square.

Can this be wired to an in-line thermostat to automatically turn on/off as needed?

The fan may be wired to a thermostat for automatic operation. You could use a 120 volt thermostat installed similar to an on/off switch.

Do you sell a fan that I could duct out the back rather than a side vent?

What you need to consider is how high does the rain splash back up in the worse case scenario. It has been a couple of years since I installed mine so I can't recall if there are positioning hints in the instructions.

Will the fan remove woodworking dust?

It works well in the kitchen with moisture, smoke, and cooking odors. I think it will work with fine airborne dust, but you might have to check for and clean any dust that get stuck in and out the fan over time, so as to prevent passage clogs and motor failure.

We put this on a timer switch in a studio apt. kitchenette area, and it saved our bacon! Works very well, looks attractive, and we really like the look on the outside of the house (had to spray paint the metal to match our brick, though).

Awesome fan and as far as I am concerned it is really no louder than my old 50cfm fan that was there. Now there is no steam build up in the bathroom whatsoever. I would highly recommend.

Moved into a new house without a vent fan in the kitchen. I have non standard cabinet spacing and a window above the cook top. This was a great solution. I purchased the 9.5" washable grease filter also from HD online. I had a friend install it in about 1/2 day. There are no instructions for a stucco install so he cut a round hole same as the inside and installed firring strips with toggle bolts, then attached the vent to it with deck screws.. He had to use wide strips of wood or the fan duct would close too much and seal off the wire opening. He then connected to a nearby switch for an overhead light using a stacked switch on the right side. Eventually I will paint exteriror the same color as the stucco so it will not be quite the eyesore. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that it is noisy. It does move a lot of air which is what I needed it for so I can live with it. Better than a greasy smelly kitchen.
