What is the drywall cut out size?

Asked by mkr October 13, 2020

Answer

The drywall cutout for a model 751 is 13-1/8" diameter. The housing box above that 13-1/8" diameter collar measures 9" long x 9" wide x 6" deep.

what bulb should I buy to replace the light?

Asked by martha August 12, 2020

Answer

The 678 is fan and light combination unit. It requires a regular A19 base incandescent bulb, 100 Watts maximum.

How much vertical space is needed above the drywall? I only have 6 inches.

Asked by cb May 6, 2020

Answer

The housing on this fan is 5-3/4" tall.

How do I change the light bulb?

Asked by Al April 26, 2020

Answers

If you have this model, 678, then follow these instructions. First, turn off the power. The lens is a ‘snap-in’ type lens. To remove the lens, you will need a flat head screw driver or a butter knife. Gently insert the screw driver or knife between the lens and grille. You will see that there are two tabs. Push it gently away from the grille, it will pop out. Use caution here . . . you can easily drop the lens. This will expose the bulb and allow you to replace it.

Does it need to be vented outside

If your replacing an existing exhaust fan and it didn't have a light on it, most likely you would have to pull new wire to the unit if you want separate switching, hope this answers you question.

where can I get the glass part of the fan cause the one on my fan fell off and broke in piecesfolasa

I have installed the unit and it works great. Thanks for asking. The delivery was fast and i am well pleased.

can an LED bulb be used with this fixture?

Asked by Fred July 17, 2019
3
Answers

Yes. Any bulb with a standard base will work as long as it’s under the max rating, which an LED bulb would be. You may want to find one that is rated for a damp area if the fixture is directly above your shower.

Is there a built in damper to prevent back drafts?

Yes

Customer review from broan-nutone.com logo
The builder installed three if this unit in my new house in August of 2017 and two are working fine. The only issue that I have with the third one is that the flapper stays open even when we are not running the fan. So our master bathroom gets cold in the winter and we get flies coming in too. The builder sent an HVAC person to troubleshoot and he put a blob of silicone on the flapper to weight if a little so that it would close. He also said that this is a known issue and is the result of cheap material. I guess the blob fell off because I can feel cold air and had two flies in the bathroom the other night. Replacing the flapper is, I’m sure, beyond the scope of my competence and I can’t seem to get access to the flapper through the fan exhaust.

I have this fan in both of my bathrooms. It is strong so the shower area dries quickly. It does require more room than your typical fan however. My contractor had to drop the ceiling down to accommodate it but he tiled the ceiling too, so it looks great!

I was thinking about repairing my existing Broan bath exhaust fan and light, but just the fan motor and the lens for the light cost more than the entire newer model shipped to my door!Received the item very quickly and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. The new fan also fit the existing hole in the ceiling for my old exhaust fan perfectly, which made the installation very quick and very easy. This was a plus because all other ceiling fans were about 4 inches larger which would have required more work.

These fans were replacement for the earlier version that we installed some years ago. They have improved them and make easier to change light bulbs. The fans are used in small bathrooms and do a good job drawing moisture out of the air. Would like them to be a little quieter, but they still do a good job.
