Confused on size replacement
Confused replacement assy shows 696pn but size says fits 8 X 7 1/4 models b4 1999 , but it shows here size 7 1/2 X 7 1/4 so replacement motor fan assy will not fit !

There were several versions of the 696 model manufactured and unfortunately, parts are not designed to be interchangeable between all models. Easy update
These were the same size as my existing fans so installation was easy. I simply removed the plate with the motor on it and replaced the old one from inside the bathroom. The old housings were fine after a little cleaning. This was a lot less of a big deal than I anticipated. Both fans work great and although they are 4 sones, they are much quieter than they were.

This is the 'D' housing
If you are looking for a replacement, make sure you know what housing you need. Home Depot doesn't have the 'B' housing replacement.

The 696N without the revisions listed above had a version 1 where the motor bracket attaches to the back of the motor. The version 2 motor bracket attaches to the front of the motor.
