The Broan-NuTone Replacement Filter for 8 in. Exhaust Fan helps capture airborne grease and prevent grease buildup on your exhaust motor or in duct work. This replacement filter is designed to fit NuTone 8 in. utility fans and VG-54 Damper (sold separately). It can be cleaned with soap and water.

AnswerThanks for the filter question. Filters can be specific to a model. So it could depend on which manufacturer your fan is made by. If you have a Broan-NuTone exhaust unit, you can use the following filter: S99010271. This can be purchased two ways: (a) place a special order at your local Home Depot store; (b) contact our Customer Service Department at 888-336-3948. Thanks, again.

While the actual diameter of the 834 filter is 9-1/2", it's designed for our 8" utility fans. The Broan-NuTone 8210 ceiling vertical exhaust fan Installation Instructions recommends this grease filter to be compatible with their fan, But it Wasn't...! The center hole is too small to fit into the fan grille mounting shaft...! I had to return this filter and buy from another manufacturer with the correct size center hole...Other than that the filter quality and construction is good. So before ordering make sure the center hole fits...

It was a good replacement; but it would be much better and help complete the project if a washer of some kind or a set of various washers came with it. I believe my washer was rusted out or was indistinguishable from the grime on the unit when removed. Currently, my filter spins around on the screw shaft continually for lack of this and the project requires an additional trip to the hardware store. For a couple of cents you could include a few options of washers in the bag with the filter screen. I would be 5 stars if this was there; maybe a diagram or instructions. I know it's pretty basic, but I'm not even sure it was supposed to have a washer and assumed the unit would be a pop it in and done deal
