The dimensions of the AE80L are as follows: housing: 9-1/4" x 10" x 5-3/4"D. Grille: 11-1/2" x 12-1/8". You may want to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-888-336-3948 between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM (CDT) Monday-Friday for additional assistance.

Answer

The A70L two function unit can be wired either way. It can be wired for both functions to operate on one switch (like your currant unit), or it can be wired to an individual switch for both functions. Since there's only one switch at this time, you or your installer will have to run another wire. It is recommended that you consult a local licensed electrician to be sure the installation is compliant with your local/state codes.

It does require a switch to operate properly. An electrician can install a switch for you, for a fee, and of course the proper permits. I would suggest that if you go to that expense, you have the fan and light connected to separate switches. Some times I would like to have the light on without the fan.

Are the light and fan controlled separately?

Asked by Ann July 22, 2018

Answers

Yes, there are wires for both. Just make sure you have selected the pair for your switch arrangement. I'm used to having the upper switch control the fan so I wanted to make sure that is what it did. The wires that go to the small connector are for the light. It will be obvious once you see it. Just be careful with testing the power. It's a good idea to tape the switches to the off position (or shut off breaker) to make sure no one flips a switch while it is being worked on.

You can see right through the grille. You can see all the wires and the fan motor. Is there a cover that we can upgrade to?

We are disappointed to hear your are not satisfied with your selection of model A70L, Unfortunately there is no other grille options for this unit, as our parts are unit specific and not interchangeable. This is a more basic fan with light unit. We do have many more bath fan options to choose from on our Broan-NuTone website at www.Broan-NuTone.com. Thank you.

This exhaust fan is working well. Purchased 1 month ago. The sones of 1.5 make it quiet enough to hear in the next room and still loud enough to know it's on and working. You do need to try different bulbs to find the right brightness that you're looking for. I don't like the light/fan cover, however. The slots are vertical which show all the electrical wires and box which is ugly to look at. Maybe future fans will put the slots on an angle so you can't see the hardware!

(What's this)
I recently installed the Invent series 80 cfm ceiling exhaust bath fan. It seems to be a very nice fan, quiet too. It says it has a rating of 0.8 sones. Sound levels are rated in sones where the lower the rating number, the quieter the fan. Typical economy fans are rated at about 4.0 sones or more while any fan rated 1.0 sones or less is very quiet. I have it in a small bathroom and it keeps the moisture down to a minimum if any at all. The old fan when I got out of the shower the room would be steamy walls were all wet. This one no steam and the walls are dry. I won't have to worry about any mold with this fan. It was also very easy to install, providing there was an existing fan there. I pulled the old one out hooked the vent to the new one screwed it to the ceiling joists hooked up the power and that was it. I highly recommend it.

(What's this)
InVent Series 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Light Our old bathroom fan stopped working so it was time to replace it. I installed the InVent 80 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Fan with Light about a week ago and it is working as advertised. I did have to enlarge the opening for the new InVent fan to fit as our old fan was a bit smaller. Overall the new InVent fan was pretty easy to put up once the ceiling cut out was enlarged to accept the new fan box. The installation instructions included with the fan are well written, easy to understand and the pictures are fairly clear. The most difficult part of the installation was getting into the attic to attach the vent hose to the roof exhaust. The entire project took about 2.5 – 3 hours from start to finish (including clean-up). One note on clean-up, if you have to cut any sheetrock, make sure to cover the area you are working in. I made the mistake of not covering anything and I caught a lot of grief from my wife because of the dust that was everywhere when I was done. I used a power multi-tool to make the cuts which was easy, but it did create a mess. Using a hand tool such as a keyhole saw would have prevented much of the mess I created (lesson learned). After the hole was cut you simply place the fan box in it and securely fasten it to a stud in the ceiling. The fan motor is then wired into the fan box as well as the light fixture. The fan motor is then reinstalled and secured into the fan box (the instructions are very clear). You simply plug the fan motor and the light fixture into the appropriate receptacles that you just finished wiring, place the grille on, put a light bulb in and you are done. The grille placement is a little tricky due to the springs, but it’s not too bad. As I mentioned, the hard part for me was .crawling into the attic and securing the vent hose (not included). In summary, the installation is not too difficult for an average to above average DIY individual that is physically able to climb, cut and wire the electrical portion. The fan is very quiet and draws very well for an average sized bathroom and the lighting is sufficient. I read several negative reviews for this particular unit but did not experience any of the difficulties that other reviewers encountered. As always, if do perform the install yourself, be safe. I hope this review helps a little. Regards, 2695hplc

Installation was easy, and the instructions were reasonably clear. However, as others have reported, I was very frustrated by the poor design of the spring clips, which kept popping loose and stubbornly resisted when I tried to push the grille up to the ceiling. [SOLUTION] I decided to try bending the curved sides of the spring nearly straight, so they looked like a broad "v", and that did the trick nicely. I would have given this product five stars had it not been for the issue with the springs.

This was a replacement for an existing fan so installation was a fairly routine "take the old one out, put the new one in" project. What I like most is the light socket. It is standard light bulb (bulb not included) socket so I could put in a "daylight" LED bulb, 60 watt equivalent which is far better than the fluorescent that was in the old fixture. The noised level is a little higher than I expected, so I would suggest that any one wanting "quiet" should chose one rated at 1.5 scones or lower.

Very quiet! So quiet in fact sometimes it's hard to tell it's on. I bought it to move more air out of the bathroom because I was having a moisture problem on a window. So far I think it's helping with the moisture issue.
