Since it has the nightlight feature it’s easier to buy a multi switch and wire it with that using 14/3 wire. That way you can use all three features

The Broan QTXE Series installation instructions do not show dimensions (https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/1b/1bfc40c2-ce8d-4489-9354-759dc122c95c.pdf). By measuring the box we determined them to be approximately 10 3/8 by 11 1/4 for a tight fit. We installed ours in a retrofit situation and put the box flanges above the sheet rock. In new construction, they go below the sheet rock.

After twelve years, the grill and light covers for our two old fans were no longer available. One light cover had broken, and the grills for both had yellowed. On Broan’s website I was able to find the parts list for them, then cross-reference with current models to find which ones still used the same enclosures, internal electrical connection plate, etc. I ordered two units of one of those models through Home Depot, which actually arrived a day early. Swapping in the new grill subassemblies was easy. And now I’ve got spare blower (fan) assemblies if the old ones should give out some day, too – the old ones still run fine.

This Broan exhaust fan with CFL lights is very quiet. Compact fluorescent lights are old school. I expect the mfg will update to LED. HOWEVER, it is very difficult to use this in a retrofit [versus new construction or remodel] situation unless you have attic access.

Easy to install either in new construction or as a retrofit to existing exhaust duct and electric wiring. Fan is much more quiet than the pre-existing, original installation model. I purchased this unit for the convenience of incandescent lighting - (we don't want CFLs in our house due to mercury in the phosphors). Broan and Nutone: "In 1998, Nortek acquired NuTone, adding it to the Broan Group and renaming the group the Broan-NuTone Group." Both offer very similar product and the high-end products of either brand are excellent. We recently also installed a NuTone fan in a second bathroom. Sones rating of 1.5 or below should be satisfactory for all but the most sensitive ear. Our NuTone installed fan was rated 0.3 Sone and is barely audible. Take care to note whether the fan is for new construction only or or new or retrofit. It's possible to use the new construction fan in a retrofit situation, but it will almost certainly require access to the space above the fan. Also note the required exhaust duct size. Most original installed units are connected to a 4" duct. The most quiet fans generally use a 6" duct. Both the Broan and NuTone fans were installed less than a week ago, so long term performance is yet to be established.
