if my fan is pushing air out into my bathroom, what have I done wrong?
Asked by: niecy
I can think of a couple reasons. If you replaced the fan and motor did you install it correctly. Did you reverse the fan or the Morton in the housing. Also did you plug the electrical in with the factory plug or did you splice it. You may have reversed the wires.

My Broan 678 fan light fixture is approximately 30 yrs old, will the replacement unit work in my unit.
Asked by: squekey
I successfully replaced my ventilation (No light fixture) which was from 1988. It fitted well and still working after one year. I suggest: find the item number on your current unit and look for it on the internet and find the equivalent item for it, since the manufacturer might not exist anymore. Good luck.

Replacement Motor and Impeller for 659 and 679 Bathroom Exhaust Fans is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 573.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Replacement Motor and Fan This replacement motor and fan fit perfectly. Of course, when I had my bathroom renovated the old one was the only thing I didn't replace since it was still working. Since I'm not at all mechanically inclined and a 68 yr old woman, I was afraid I would have to call someone to install it. Instead I went to Youtube and followed their directions. I'm not saying it was easy for me, especially working over my head, but I finally figured it out. I'm very pleased with it, works great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broan Replacement Motor & Impeller Details Recommend in emergency. The original unit dated from the mid 80's. The fan was on it's last legs. The install on the new fan required a few steps. First, the original sheet metal mounting bracket had to be opened up to fit the round end of the replacement motor. I used a drill bit. Secondly, the mounting studs on the replacement motor were smaller that the original ones. I had to get new nuts, washers & lockwashers as none came with the new motor. Finally, the new unit was louder than the old one. I bought two units. I returned the 2nd. If my other unit goes, I'll get a whole new vent fan.

I actually purchased two of these replacement motor/fan assemblies for two twenty-year old bathroom ventilation fans, which had seen better days. They were relatively easy to install, with only a slight modification in the mounting bracket, and required only the most basic of tools: screwdriver, pliers, a sturdy step ladder, and a steady hand. Once firmly in place and plugged into the fan housing and outlet, the fan assembly performed well and was quieter than the original. Very pleased! John

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works....., that's it. This is the third time I have replaced this fan. The original fan and replacement were quieter. For whatever reason this one is not as quiet as the original and the first replacement. I even resorted to putting special washers on all mounts to lessen noise that may have been created by vibration. There was no difference. Although it Is not as quiet as the original, it is still quieter than the one I had to replace. All other things aside, it works as it is supposed to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fits but not a great fan The box at Lowes for this model (BP27) shows that it also fits Broan model #688 - A through E. As you can see from this website above Broan does not list this model. It fits and runs just like the old motor, however, I am not convinced that the fan blades (new in the box) are operating as efficiently as the original fan which is similar but has a sealed top and is a bit thicker. The shaft spline is different so the old fan blade won't fit. It does run as quiet as the original equipment. Gave it three stars as it is worth a try at only $15+/- and may work better in other Broan models. Would have liked to use the old fan blades though.

Here's the steps: 1) Ensure that the power is turned off. 2) Snap-out the bezel. 3) Remove the light bulb. 4) Remove the cap nut that suspends the cover, and remove the cover. 5) Unplug the fan and the light bulb. 6) Remove the screw next to the outlet. 7) Pull down on the panel that holds the motor/fan assembly. 8) Remove the existing impeller by pulling it away from the motor. 9) Remove the 2 nuts that mount the motor. 10) Install the new parts in the reverse order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fan replacement I have an older manufactured home and both bathroom exhaust fans were seized. I ordered these as they are considerably less costly than actual manufactured home units. They bolted right up (the fan itself is bigger than my original, but still fits within the pipe unit). I had the first one changed out in about 15 minutes. The second is on hold until I get time again to do it. Great units!! Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Motor was exact fit We were trying to re-place a 40 year old brown fan. It's no longer manufactured nor are there replacement parts available. We took a chance with this fan and the motor was an exact replacement and while it wasn't easy getting the old one out and putting the new one in and it works extremely well The only downside is the squirrel cage fan that comes with the replacement is an inch smaller in diameter and thus less fission and the one it replaces, we couldn't use the older squirrel fan as it doesn't fit the new shaft and the replacement motor
