Questions & Answers

Is this for female use too? I only see 1 nozzel in the back..

Asked by: viking
Not sure why people are saying this is only for your bottom. I bought this for my 80 yr old Mom with Mobility and bathing issues which make cleaning private parts unpleasant for caregivers. I installed this and am happy to report that this unit thoroughly cleans all your lady bits. Simply lean forward a bit while sitting down. I bought her a long handled soft bristle brush to suds up then simply rinse off. This has been a life saver.

So you have to run a hot water line over to your toilet for this to work?

Asked by: Rmore88
No, you do not have to run a hot water line unless you want hot water. It will work fine with cold water only, but I HIGHLY recommend utilizing the hot water feature. your cold water can get terribly uncomfortable during the winter months.

It takes a few minutes for the hot water to reach the bathroom where I want to install the unit, does it keep the water warm? How would it work? I have an on demand water heater in my home.
Asked by: Sorem
We have a similar hot water issue. What we do is place the unit in clean mode to allow the hot water to cycle into the bidet before using the toilet. Causes the loss of water but at least the wash water will be warm!

How long is the actual spray nozzle?

Specifically, I'm wondering how much 'clearance' from the porcelain bowl. We need a toilet seat riser for mobility reasons, that sits ON TOP to the standard seat... but hoping there is enough clearance to use from atop the seat riser. I'm sure there is enough water pressure/force to reach the extra 3 inches, but don't know if there will be a physical obstruction.

Customer Reviews

Dual Temperature Bidet Attachment in White is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 277.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not able to connect to Existing Cols Water tubing Bought this item online (FSW-20 FreshSpa by Brondell) from HomeDepot, based on the attached picture from Brondell website. However, when the item arrived (attached picture) I found there is no option to connect the cold water input to a clear plastic tube, similar to the hotwater input connected to the hotwater pipe under the sink. I bought this item to replace an older (other brand) bidet that used 2 clear plastic tubes conencted to my sink pipes (both cold and hot). I questioned why there's no option to simply connect both lines to the pipes under the sink, rather than a separate type of connector hooked to the toilet tank. I called the Brondell support line (888-542-3355), and they confirmed that there is no missing parts. I then told them they need to change the picture advertised on their website, since it misleads customers. Now, I have only 2 options: one is to find another product that will fit my existing pipes, or bring in a plumber to disassemble the cold water connection under my sink, before I can install this bidet. I am disappointed and will think twice before ordering other Brondell products.

The hot line the supplied ended up bursting and partially flooding my bathroom. I disconnected the hot line and put the provided plu back on it ended up with a intermin leak. I took it back to hd and got another one hoping it was better . When I contacted the company for a longer vinyl line to route it differently the wanted to charge me $11.00 for an 8' piece of vinyl hose . I am a contractor and should have known better than to use a hose like that for hot water. Bad design!

I only used a bidet once but for a period of several days and it was an entire separate unit that sat next to the toilet. This Brondell unit works very well especially after you get comfortable with it. To use warm water first run the hot water in the sink until it gets hot then the bidet still needs to run a little before it gets warm (easy does it). I do not find cold water uncomfortable at all and if I got another one would get cold water only. After you do your business slowly turn the water pressure up. Adjust your body slightly so you are "hitting the bull's eye" then kick up the pressure to give it a fairly hard squirt for around 5 to 10 seconds. Use toilet paper to dry off and check that it is fairly clean. You can do a second squirt if necessary but once you get the hang of it once will probably be enough. The wetness on your back side is pretty confined to the intended area so no need for a towel but you will want to use some paper to dry it off. I love it and that part of my body thanks me every day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I purchased this yesterday and my son and I installed it in my second floor bathroom.. Unfortuna... I purchased this yesterday and my son and I installed it in my second floor bathroom.. Unfortunately, the hose was too short, so I went back to get a longer hose. Bought a hose as close to the original as I could.... unfortunately it did not fit. So I shaved it down a bit on the outside of the plastic to make a good seal. Got it working with no problem, even with having to drill a hole in a wall and fishing the hose through it. Unfortunately at 2am, I heard running water while in the kitchen one the first floor. I figured someone was taking a shower until I saw water running out of the lights in the kitchen and dining room. Ran to turn off the water and a kitchen light slammed onto the kitchen table. Water was running all the way to the basement as well. If installing this and the hose does not fit, do not try to improvise a second hose... it is not worth the hassle. I now have an insurance claim on my homeowners policy to replace the ceiling in the kitchen and dining room.

Never thought I would put one of these in our house but due to a medical need this was the best solution to help care for my better half / lower half! For better or worse doesn't exclude use of power tools for the right job!! (I'm a Handy Man) She was very grateful and we were both surprised on the ease and effectiveness of this toilet upgrade at a very reasonable price. Reduction in toilet paper usage was shocking and better cleaning as well. Been in use now for over three months and no problems! Would strongly recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Idea! A few "gotchas" though... I bought this one because I couldn't see spending over $100 for one with a seat and a water heater that ran out in a few seconds (according to other reviews). I did like the installation but you must add longer bumpers to the front of your seat, or the seat will "slope" to the front as the bidet adds about 1/2 inch to the height of the back of the seat. Doesn't seem like much but you do notice it. Also, I did NOT like the use of the PVC flex hose for the cold and the use of vinyl tubing for the hot water!!!! I emailed CS at Brondel, and got a rather nasty response, so I had to modify the fittings, tap the pipes for SAE pipe threads and use my OWN METAL reinforced hoses and COPPER tubing back to the hot water. REALLY VERY ANNOYING was the use of a proprietary thread for the water fittings (could be metric, but they were NOT pipe/tapered). I was told that they did this to prevent the use of other fittings as they "had problems". Well I do NOT trust vinyl tubing and hot water, and I have had PVC hoses burst before... so this was a complete FAIL, but I am alot more confident with my mod now. Other than that, it is an OK product and is built to a price.

The hoses and attachments bear no resemblance to the fittings to my toilet, or the bidet attachment I am replacing, which had standard fittings. Do not buy this unless you are prepared to make a second trip to the store, shut of the buildings water, and install the unnecessary additional hardware. Until you do that you will be flushing with a bucket. Already expensive, the additional costs of installment make it inconvenient and very expensive. Skip it.
