Can this 3/8" x 3" oak wood flooring be GLUED down?

Hello Gary, Thank you for reaching out to us with your hardwood flooring installation questions. This engineered hardwood floor may be glued down instead of mechanically fastened. Recommended Adhesives: Armstrong ProConnect Flooring Adhesive, Armstrong Equalizer Urethane Adhesive, Armstrong Summit All-In-One Hardwood Flooring Adhesive. For your convenience, I have included a link below to the complete installation guide to this floor. I hope this information is helpful. If there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know. http://www.floorexpert.com/articles/Installation/Installation-Instructions-3-8-1-2-10mm-and-13mm-Engineered-Products-Staple-Down-Mechanically-Fastened-Floating-and-Glue-Down?retURL=%2Fapex%2FknowledgeSearch%3Fk%3D3%252F8&popup=false&lang=en_US&KBArticleTypeLabel=Installation&KBArticleTitle=Installation+Instructions+3%2F8%22+%26+1%2F2%22+%2810mm+and+13mm%29+Engineered+Products+%28Staple-Down%2C+Mechanically+Fastened%2C+Floating+and+Glue-Down%29&KBArticleName=Installation-Instructions-3-8-1-2-10mm-and-13mm-Engineered-Products-Staple-Down-Mechanically-Fastened-Floating-and-Glue-Down&KBArticleType=Installation__kav&KBArticleID=kA361000000MVts

I'm a little confused, is this a high gloss finish? Also does it have trim in same finish? Can I get a sample?

Asked by GINGER March 18, 2016

It's really shiny. It does seem to have a high gloss finish. I couldn't tell you about the trim though, as I didn't buy it. I bought a box to decide if we wanted to use it and decided against it.

How thick is the wear layer?

Asked by Rosie June 1, 2014

Answers

1/12 of an inch is 2.1 mm which is just perfect in my opinion. Just enough but not too much. If the veneer is much thicker, then it starts expanding and shrinking with the climate.

Can this floor be laid as a floating floor on top of existing hardwood flooring

Asked by Keda July 16, 2018
2
Answers

Good morning. Thank you for reaching out to us with for question. Yes this floor can be floated over an existing hardwood floor. The existing flooring must be fastened to the sub-floor. Existing solid wood flooring that exceeds 6″ (15 mm) in width must be covered with 3/8″ (9.5 mm) approved underlayment and fastened as required. Do not install over solid flooring attached directly to the concrete. Here is a link to the installation instructions for this floor. https://bit.ly/2HaxoSr I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

I purchased the American Originals Barista Brown Oak 3/8 in. T x 3 in. W x Varying L Click Lock Engineered Hardwood Flooring (22 sq.ft.) for our family room. We had the floor professionally installed and it looked beautiful. At the beginning we were very happy with the flooring. However, the quality is very poor. We do not wear shoes in the house and ask all of our guests to remove their shoes as well, so I expected this floor to stay looking like new. The floor dents and scratches very easily just from the dog walking on it. We can’t sand the scratches and buff them out, so now the floor looks terrible. Also, some of the edges where one plank touches the other plank are chipping. I thought this would be hard and durable like a regular hardwood floor but it is not. I wonder if the boxes of flooring we purchased were defective. I wish I knew this before buying the flooring and paying to have it professionally installed. I’m very disappointed. I had heard and read good things about Bruce Flooring which I now believe are not true. See photos.

Dear Valued Customer,
Nothing is as striking and inviting as a home with true hardwood. Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments.
We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your flooring product. It is our aim to provide quality products and services to our customers and to meet your expectations.
With any hardwood floor, extra caution should be exercised when pets are in the home. While the urethane finish found on our hardwood floors is durable, it does not make the hardwood impervious to scratching. Pets may inadvertently cause damage when they are trying to get somewhere fast. We recommend keeping your pets' nails trimmed and their paws kept clean.
Hardwood is a natural product and all species can scratch or dent with enough direct pressure to the surface of the wood.
There is, unfortunately, nothing that any hardwood flooring manufacturer can do to the wood to make it impervious to scratching, nicking, denting, etc.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and hope that this information is helpful. Have a great day. AHFProducts

The first 5 boxed went down well. Box #6 would not interlock with the other flooring. Two repeated re-orders had the same result. The last box would not snap with my other flooring or with the pieces in the box. And, the color was way off from the original 5 boxes. HOWEVER, I love the way that the flooring professionals at Home Depot are working with me to replace the flooring. Your team members are totally awesome and your customer service is superb!

Good Morning Stanley. Thank you for taking the time to post a review of four product. I am sorry you are experiencing issues with your flooring. It is our desire to produce flooring that is easy to install and meets your expectations. I am not sure what is causing the problems with the flooring locking together, but I am happy Home Depot is working with you to resolve the issue. My only recommendation would be to try and order flooring from a different run number, one of the runs have not have been milled correctly and may be what is causing the problem. I hope this is helpful. Again I do apologize for all of the inconvenience. Have a great day. Armstrong

I installed a total of 600sf of the Ginger Snap Oak in various rooms in our home. The quality of the product was generally very good, though there were a few planks where the bottom veneer was partially missing, or the edge was chipped. The planks snapped together fairly well as long as I was careful to get the first few courses perfectly straight (I used a wall with spacers and a straightedge to get everything aligned). I used Roberts Black Jack (Internet #202549346) as my underlayment. A floor installation kit (such as Internet #202832701) with spacers, tapping block, and pull bar is a must. Get extra spacers because you will need them. My advice to anyone using this product is to open several boxes at a time (I opened 3) and sort through the planks, looking for flaws at the same time. The main reason for this is some boxes only had full-length planks, and others had quite a few shorter (18" or less) planks. By opening several at a time, I could mix and match plank sizes and adjust for color variances to minimize waste. In the end, I had very little waste, but your mileage may vary. Overall the floors turned out very nice. The orange-red tint and color variation adds interest. I notice a bit of creaking/cracking as I walk on the floor, but this has been improving over time.

Just recently installed in my vacation rental house after a backed up AC line caused water damage to the existing (and old) parquet flooring in one of the bedrooms. Decided to extend the new flooring into the second (non-damaged) bedroom and the hallway as well. Looks great so far! Even my hard-to-please wife was impressed by the look. Will have to wait till the end of the next rental season to see how it performs with actual foot traffic.
