Questions & Answers

does this product have square edges and ends?

does this product have square edges and ends?
Asked by: Bruce
Yes, there is a very small bevel along each edge (1/16" radius approx.). You can faintly see it in this photograph. I needed the flooring with no bevel but this was all I could find of the width, thickness, and color of oak that I needed. I plan to sand it down slightly when I remodel to make it more flush and to apply a satin finish instead of gloss. Hope this helps.

The apartment we are considering to install in is near the ocean. How does this wood react with humidity?
Asked by: AS
Good morning. thank you for reaching out to us with your question. An engineered hardwood floor will withstand humidity much better than a solid hardwood. We do still recommend even with engineered hardwood that the humidity in the home be maintained between 35 - 55% for the best performance from your floor. If humidity levels cannot be maintained, we would recommend considering a vinyl flooring product.I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

Are there t-moldings or grates available that match this wood?

Asked by: Britany
Good morning Britany. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. I apologize for the inconvenience; however, we do not provide trim pieces for this floors. This floor is made exclusively for the Home Depot and trim for these floors is supplied to Home Depot by Zamma or Finium. Please work with a store associate to find the recommended trim. Again I do apologize for any inconvenience. Have a great day.

Board widths not consistent!

The Bruce red oak 3 and 1/4” by 3/4” boards are off by 1/16 “ plus and minus sometimes even close to 2 mm, creating unsightly gaps. I’m having to check all your boards now because I cannot trust your widths.Solution is what?

Good Afternoon John, Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments about our flooring product. It is our aim to provide quality products and services to our customers and to meet their expectations. Wood is a natural species that can feature imperfections such as knots and discolorations. They indicated that quite a bit of the wood was not milled correctly. Much to our delight, there were very few imperfections so we were able to return the extra boxes. Beautiful outcome!

I am happy with the finish and durability of the floor, and the completed job looks very good. There were a number of warped boards making the job much more difficult. This is the first floor that I have done so I don't know if the number of unusable boards was typical. I would say that I did end up with the approx. 5% scrap and that is be after I saved many defective boards by cutting the bad end off or beating them into place to take care of the warps. I would recommend the Bruce flooring but would caution that it is a lot of work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I had 650 sq ft of this floor installed by a highly recommended angies list installer that has A rating. Since this floor is a special order item, I ordered alot more 36 boxes 792 sq ft and used 35 boxes There were a lot of bent and skinnier boards that we could not use. Installer was very careful to align the board and struggled big time. Not all the boards were 3/4 think neither 3-1/4” wide causing uneven floor and showing 1/16 gaps all over the floor. I don’t recommend this floor to anyone.

We installed about 1200 square feet of his flooring in 2012 and loved it so much we decided to use the same flooring when we added on but the flooring now is terrible. Uneven edges, widths no the same, missing tongues, just no QC!
