Pleasantly surprised
5" T&G 3/4" Hardwood; Color: By The Sea. After having installed this I can honestly say that this is a great value and good flooring overall. The most advantageous benefit I found was the multitude of varying lengths included in each box which helped not only save time from making end cuts to finish a course, but also simultaneously cutting down on waste. There were only a few bad boards, but I saved them for the back of the closet and finishing partial strips along walls. Overall, VERY HAPPY!!

Slivers, blotch every 12", rough, thin finish
It's not sanded properly, and the finish is very thin. once we laid some out on the floor and saw that there was a light colored blotch every 12". I read the bad reviews and ignored everyone who said it was too rough. I figured it was supposed to be hand scraped, but they really didn't do a good enough job with it, especially for being on the higher end of their prices. Returned 2700 lbs of it. Not a fun process. Very badly dissappointed.

This product is tough to get (constantly not available, available for a nanosecond, then not available again) but a great floor wood. The wide planks give a rich look to a room, and the hand-scraped surface is super durable. This order was to replace some planks damaged by a water leak, and for nearly five years it's had no problem and has presented a beautiful look. This is a great choice for high traffic areas, rental properties and homes with dogs. No worries about scratching/marring the surface.

Beautiful, timeless
I installed this 3/4" flooring in my living room and (months later) study. It's marvelous! The beautiful character of the real wood, with its imperfections and variations, makes this installation unique and something we are extremely happy to have as a feature in our home. Goodbye carpet! We went with the Highland Trail color and believe it creates an elegant atmosphere while retaining a comfortable sense. I added a border of natural maple of the same width and am glad I did. That border added a few days to the whole project but it was absolutely worth it.

“LIGHT SPICE” OAK SCRAPE - BRUCE SOLID HARDWOOD
Final installation definitely more pleasing than first impressions of product out of the box!! Would recommend for reasons listed below; however, for the price, the value is just barely meeting 2 of 5 rating. Don’t expect to install right out of the box...takes effort to inspect and plan how to use boards to minimize waste. Waste on the high side given very rough finish for many boards and overall lack of boards longer than 30”. We purchased this floor despite negatives because of the need to match existing woodwork in the house. Given that primary objective, we highly recommend for 20-25 year old homes to match existing “fruitwood” oak woodwork and furniture. Our project was one room, 150 sq. ft. We purchased 10 cases - using just over 6 cases, had 2 cases left over of cut off waste and boards we didn’t want to use because of poor quality, and returned 2 unopened cases we bought to insure enough for the project because of previous reviews regarding quality concerns.
PROS:
- Prefect color match to existing “fruitwood” stain
- Easy to router, re-stain, and polyurethane a radius edge to create threshold pieces for doorways
- Beautiful overall result with natural color variations and deep wood grains
- Took 4-5 days to install ourselves
- Rough spots on boards can be touched up with polyurethane and it blends wonderfully...can’t tell it was ever redone and enables many boards to be used
- Great color match between cases
- Great working with Home Depot (free product samples, ordering online and picking up at store, trouble free returns, etc.)
- Scrape finish adds to rich look of the oak and stain color. No worry of wearing the floor’s appearance even with large dogs because of this finish
- Perfect sheen...just enough to shine, but not super shiny to show wear and nicks
- Great for office. Changed casters on desk chair to polycoated casters and no need for protective floor mat. Chair rolls nicely over boards even with the boards’ beveled edges.
CONS:
- Disappointing quality
- Need to purchase more than recommended product quantity to get necessary board length and boards with acceptable quality.
- Every board needs to be 100% inspected and categorized for usability (i.e. starting pieces, ending pieces, longest boards, good overall with minor defects to be touched up, etc.)
After adjusting expectations to accept the facts that this product is real hardwood with imperfections and that users need to purchase additional product and put forth a bit more effort upfront on selection, the end result is worth it. We’re most pleased with the final result and recommend this flooring.
