No they come boxed in various sizes of 1 ft to 4 ft for proper staggering on the floor.

I couldnt get samples either, but we did get the floor. It looks great is tough. We have 3 dogs. I was very happy with it. It has a classy dated look. Try the Home Depot site. Sometimes you can buy a sample. I'm sorry I dont have a better answer.
