Questions & Answers

do we use Glue and Nails for installation on the 5in width? Is it required or just an option to use both?

Asked by: Tg
Used glue in addition to nails because we live near the beach and have alot of moisture in the air. Otherwise I would just use nails.

Do I need to apply Floor Finish Polyurethane for protection after the installation?
Asked by: Ziqing
No, it’s pre-finished and is complete upon install. It’s beautiful flooring. We’ve had it installed for over two years with high traffic and it still looks as good as the day we put it down.

how is the flooring nailed down

Asked by: Ric
This flooring is nailed down with a 2" staple using a pneumatic gun. This gun runs along the tong edge of the board inserting staples every 6". My wife and I have installed this flooring in three of our last houses. To keep the project moving quickly my wife was able to layout the boards and run the gun while I made the cuts. Another words you can do it yourself but having someone else you can work with makes the job go that much better. The instructions tell you that a 3/4 sub floor is required to properly anchor the 2" staples. You also need to consider the transition to your flooring that you are matching up to when thinking about your sub floor elevation. We used a table saw and a compound sliding miter saw to make all cuts exact. I have also had to use a jig saw, reciprocating saw to cut under door trim/jam, finish pneumatic nail gun. Never use a hammer directly on the tong of the flooring to get it in place, take a cut piece of the flooring to use with a hammer to get in place. Have a good plan before starting the project not one you will want to rush to complete.
