        Answer This Question

A:  Hello VA, Thank you for contacting us with your question. This product can be installed over a radiant heated subfloor. We recommend the heating system be embedded into the subfloor, and the surface temperature of the floor must not exceed 85 degrees F (29 degrees C). For your convenience here is a link to our installation instructions for this floor. goo.gl/QcZoHX

Q:Is this lighter or darker than a natural walnut floor? The room picture looks fairly light, but the sample I got is dark

          Answer This Question

A:  Dear Rutan56, Thank you for contacting us. Differences between the pictures on our website and the actual product could vary due to variations in computer color displays and monitor settings. Because wood is a natural product, naturally occurring wood characteristics such as variations in grain, color, mineral streaks, and knots differ between each sample. We recommend getting a sample of each product so you can compare the differences. We hope this information is helpful.

The overall job looks great, but we had some difficulty getting the pieces to snap into place. The main issue was that the tongue and groove portion was very light in color compared to the dark finish of the wood. Any slight space at all would show through. We had to put stain on some grooves.

Great result! Good product but be aware that there can be a wide range of colors in the box - from a beautiful walnut to a hideous orange. I pulled out all of the orange sap wood from 18 boxes and returned five full boxes to HD for refund with the Flooring Specialists help. Read the directions and watch some YouTubes if you are DiY. We did a floating installation over the foam underlayment with matching reducer strips and 3/4" quarter round trim from HD.

Take a look at the picture of the floor. Now picture opening boxes and there are literally almost orange colored boards. If the 8 boxes I ordered over 2 full boxes plus had planks that were so off color towards the orange color that they couldn't be used. Don't buy this manufacture.

If the associate needs assistance, please have them contact us directly and we will be glad to help them with the process. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. Only installed for 2 weeks so far, but so far so good. Looks very nice. Most of the peices are full length, very few short boards. Color and grain is nice. The wood doesn't feel very hard, but Walnut is not the hardest - if you are installing in a very high traffic area, especially where shoes would be worn, like entryways, I'd go with something harder. I installed in bedroom and closet, where I think it will hold up fine. One installation issue I had was with stapling. I chose to staple because my floor is fairly level by not exact, and I don't want the squishy feel in non-perfect areas. I had trouble finding a stapler that works. The 20guage they recommend is a joke - every staple would bend and not go in right (and if you read stapler reviews, this is common). So you have to use 18guage, and the problem here is that the head on most staplers is too big to fit in the groove where it has to go. I ground down the tip on the Bostich stapler just a bit and it then worked fine. Not something I'd recommend unless you know what you are doing.
