Can this product be installed floating directly over ceramic tile flooring, or does the tiling need to come out?
Asked by: EB
Good morning. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. This floor can be installed over ceramic tile flooring. All grout joints and broken corners that exceed 3/16" (5 mm) must be filled with a cementitious leveling compound such as Armstrong S-194 Patch, Underlayment and Embossing Leveler with S-195 Latex Underlayment Additive. The surface should be cleaned and abraded to create a good bonding surface for the adhesive. Loose tiles must be re-adhered to the subfloor or filled as above. Remove all sealers and surface treatments. Always check for adequate adhesive bond. Here is a link to the installation instructions for this floor. https://bit.ly/2q4zo3U I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

What type of glue do you use to glue joints for floating floor installation
Asked by: Mike
I found Home Depot doesn't carry the Armstrong Everseal you have to special order it. Then it takes two weeks to get for $13.00 a bottle. They do have 16oz bottles of ROBERTS 1406 that will do 400 lineal feet which is designed for engineered hardwood flooring tongue & groove

I have a sample in solid hardwood, but am now considering going with engineered. Will the engineered look the same?

Asked by: Naomi
I wouldn't use any Bruce product, however most engineered flooring looks the same as solid.

wHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUTUMN WHEAT AND YOUR SMOKEY TOPAZ EHK68LG?

Asked by: JOEY
From what I can tell, they appear to be the same product. They ran out of autumn wheat transition pieces and I ordered the smoky topaz and it looks the same. But even that one is hard to come by in the transition pieces needed

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lighter than I Hoped I made this purchase because I had used Bruce flooring in the past and I was very pleased with the quality and appearance of the wood. I think that I will be happy with these floors as well. They are easy to clean and I expect them to retain their luster (as my last flooring did until an unfortunate flood ruined all of my floors). I've had the floors in for 2 weeks now and without any rugs down, I still haven't seen a scratch from my high-heels or my dogs nails. I hired a professional to do the work - a crew of 4 completed my 332 sq. ft room in 4 hours and that included the time it took to move the furniture in and out and to put the quarter round/shoe mold up. The floor is very nice, but the color sample that I picked up in store was a little darker than the floors actually turned out to be. The color is pretty light, with just a few dark boards here and there. The overall look is very natural, but it's too light for my taste. I will say that the photo on the HD website is pretty accurate (on my laptop, anyway) so if you like that color, go for it. I highly recommend this product, but maybe in a different color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth the money Pro: The quality and the look of the floor are very good considering the price of it. The installation was easy, it is the right decision to choose the click lock version for DIY, the floors self-aligned straight precisely. Besides, Home Depot shipped faster than I expected, be prepared :-) Con: There were about 5% of the pieces either have ugly texture or some blue stain. You'd better open several boxes at a time and pick the matched color/texture before you lay them out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Too many color variations - from almost paper white to a very dark browns and grays. I guess as a solution for the second class planks which did not make a cut to a quality product, the manufacturer just gave this flooring a fancy name "rustic". Also there was maybe 2-4 at most decent sized planks per box, a big bulk of an average box consists of planks 5 to 15 inches long. I would have returned it if it was not such a hassle. I guess its tolerable, but if I only new and could see a sample before, for the money I've paid I would have gotten a better quality floors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like the overall appearance of the floor once installed. It is shiny, and the floor is relative... I like the overall appearance of the floor once installed. It is shiny, and the floor is relatively resilient against scratches and dings. The installation was made difficult however due to a significant proportion (~25%) of the boards having a projection of wood on one end that prevented the click lock system from working. The extension had to be snapped off, taking with it a significant strip of the connecting piece of wood. I am wondering if that accounts for many online complaints I came across from others with this product, who reported "buckling" of their floors. Be sure to leave considerable space between the wall and the board to allow for expansion. In addition, DO NOT use the white underlayment product recommended on the Home Depot site! It is very thin and cheap, and needs to be completely taped down. You would be better off with the Pergo underlayment which has an overlapping edge with the next piece, preventing the need for any tape use. I had water leak from a dishwasher under a counter and bar, ending up UNDER the white underlayment and still the water seeped up and in less than an hour damaged 3 rows of the flooring! Waterproof this product is NOT. Wipe any moisture off quickly, find a reliable underlayment and pray! Finally, be aware this color is increasingly hard to come by. I bought all the transition pieces I could find from home depot but needed more and had to order them from another chain, in a DIFFERERENT color (pecan) because Home Depot ran out of the T-pieces. And these transition pieces are horrible to install. They do not click and lock. They must be glued, and reglued and reglued again. That has been the most frustrating part of all of this.

Pros: easy to install by DIY, nice finish that is easy to maintain Cons: MANY pieces in boxes are nasty looking. Streaks, gray tints, "speckled" so you MUST open and mix boxes which means you are limited on returning this as you can not return opened boxes to Home Depot. The gap required means you'll need a thick edge molding to cover it; plan accordingly. All in all a nice product that needs more care given to the quality of EACH board so that all the box can be used. I used the "ugly ones inside the closet and where I knew a bed placement would cover it up".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great flooring The flooring is great. I love the way it looks and feels. I just wish the salesman who "helped" me the day I bought it listened to my needs and would have ordered the correct size thickness I wanted so I wouldn't have to glue the flooring together instead of nailing it together like I wanted.
