Questions & Answers

Can this be laid on a concrete basement floor using glue?

Asked by: Charlie
The pieces do not need glued down. Place down underlayment, snap the pieces together, and finish with molding on the edges.

Can I use this outdoor?

Asked by: Yg
No, I would not use this outdoors. It is thin, meant to be used on a firm, even surface. Being exposed to rain or moisture over time would ruin it quickly unless you could find a way to completely seal it from the elements. It is waterproof as far as spills and such, but not constant exposure to moisture.

When installing this flooring as a floating floor in the kitchen, does it sit below the cabinets or is it laid up to the cabinets? What if it's glued down or stapled?
Asked by: DIYer
Dear Valued Customer, Wood is the one flooring product that ages gracefully. Thank you for reaching out to us with your questions. When installing our Hydropel engineered hardwood, we recommend that you install the cabinets and then the engineered hardwood around the cabinets, leaving the 1/2″ (12.7 mm) expansion zone. If you're installing cabinets after the engineered hardwood has been installed, most or all of the cabinet weight should be supported by the wall mountings. To secure the cabinets to the substrate with screws or nails, drill holes through the engineered hardwood 1/2″ (12.7 mm) diameter larger than the screw or nail to allow for expansion. We hope that this information is helpful. Have a great day.
