I had this flooring professionally installed and it looks and feels great. Since it was just installed I can’t tell you how well it holds up, but from the feel of the product I think it will look great for a long time.

The hickory floor is beautiful and warm but installation is harder than expected. We installed 42 rows (17') with each row 11' long. We were not able to install piece by piece in a row, we had to snap 6 pieces together into one row, before snapping them into the previous row. I'm not sure how this works if the row is too long, as you will need 2 people to keep each piece connected when snapping the whole row. We cut the groove edge on the short end of each piece when installing the last row. Just had this for 3 months, quality looks good so far.

The installation of this flooring was a little harder than indicated on the package. To be fair here, I have never done this type of flooring before, so I have no experience with other similar products. You could not install one piece in a row at a time, you had to lay out the whole row and snap them together and then snap them into the previous row. I was doing a section of floor that was only 11.5' long and I could not do it by myself. To make matters worse, some boxes of flooring was 80% short pieces, which made it tough to pick up a row to install onto the previous row because it would start coming apart as you tried to line it up. By the time we got done, we had gotten so we could get it with minimal frustration. We were gluing it down, so having the row wanting to fall apart as you went made it messy at times. Once you had the row snapped into place, it seemed to hold together good. We had one box shipped to our house, mistake, the boxes are somewhat heavy and the shipping company wasn't careful with it, so the ends got kind of beat up and made it so they could not be snapped together. I recommend picking up at the store so you can make sure of the condition. If you have done this type of floor before you might not have any problems with it. The product is made in china as it turns out and is some type of plastic in between two thin sheets if wood. I put a fine finish blade on my saw and it cut good without chip out. The finished floor does look good, not sure on the durability. It took my wife and I the better part of two days to do a 11.5X11.5' floor. Like I said, we did glue it down, so that took a fair amount of time. If you do the floating floor you can go a lot faster. Just get help and be patient.

This is nice hickory natural waterproof flooring it covers 22.6 sq ft and is heavy duty. We are going to install in our storage building that I'm making into a craft room. I picked this flooring because it is waterproof and heavy duty with a nice color to it. The instructions are easy to read and understand so it should be simple to install it in the shed.

I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I received the HydroPel engineered hardwood flooring. I have installed numerous floors for myself, friends, and family members but they have all been laminate. Wow; was I impressed. The quality of this flooring is second to none. Completely constructed from wood, this flooring is tough and also amazingly beautiful. I have two daughters along with two dogs so the over the top quality of the waterproofing is the frosting on the cake. A lot of thought went into the designing of this flooring with no stone left unturned. Each case comes with varying lengths to make installation easier and look more natural. The coloring of the flooring is extremely realistic. For my project, I am actually installing a basement rec room floor with a variety of colors from this line to give it an older, barnwood type of theme. I can’t wait to complete this project. Great job HydroPel. You nailed it…

I've been converting the floors throughout my home from carpeting to hard surface, be it hardwood...
I've been converting the floors throughout my home from carpeting to hard surface, be it hardwood, laminate, or tile. I was really drawn to this Bruce Hydropel for several reasons -- its warm, hickory beauty, it's waterproof properties, and the fact it is an engineered hardwood. For those unfamiliar with engineered hardwood, it's a preferred choice for both contractors and homeowners. As the name indicates, it's a hybrid of sorts, in that it features a thick layer of real hardwood (in this Bruce offering, that's the top & the bottom) with an extremely dense wood core. The layers are fused to produce an engineered hardwood plank with the beauty of real wood with a long-term stability that resists the movement and warping of all-wood planks. And this Bruce Hydropel product is a perfect example of those features. There was a time when any type of wood flooring was never an option for a room subject to moisture. But, given this flooring is essentially waterproof, I've chosen to feature it in my recently remodeled main bath. I've done a few water tests to several planks, and was impressed with the repellent qualities of both the hickory layers and the specially-coated core. The planks are beautifully varied in their tone and grains, and should add a warmth to the room. I needed more of the Hydropel Hickory than I received, so I'm waiting on an additional carton I ordered online, and will combine the two cartons once it arrives to evenly spread the grains and tones. I've also done some "dry runs" on assembling the planks, and found them very easy to connect, and very secure when they lock together. I'm opting for a floating floor over underlayment-- but it's nice that this flooring can also be glued or stapled, should the homeowner choose that type of install. The Bruce Hydropel Hickory engineered hardwood flooring is well-made, waterproof flooring that comes with a Lifetime Residential/ 15 Year Commercial warranty. I highly recommend it!

This flooring seems perfect for my kitchen, where I've had a bad experience with engineered hardwood. I used a scrap piece of the flooring to test how well it holds up with to water, and to my surprise, there was no damage after 36 hours (I would not let water stay on my floor that long). With the right tools, it's not too difficult to lay and it looks absolutely great! One thing I would recommend is that you open all of your boxes at once to use because I found that some of the boxes had mostly full length boards while some had mostly various shorter length boards and you definitely want to mix these up so that you don't have areas with full length boards and areas with shorter lengths boards in your room. The finished project looks great and the wife is happy with me!

This flooring is made from solid hardwood, and is quite unlike the laminate flooring that I have used. The latter is inexpensive and has a fine initial appearance but is easily disfigured by accidental chips and and disintegrates if it gets wet. This flooring, being made of solid hardwood has none of these drawbacks and is claimed to be waterproof for thirty six hours. Installation is easy thanks to locking tabs, and the only cutting required is for the last piece of each row that is laid down. The left over piece can be used to start the next row, so the is no wastage.

For a starter I set up several colors of the Bruce Hydropel Oak Dark Brown with dark and light colored hickory together in a wishful pattern to match my wall and furniture colors. After contemplating on the color patterns I decided to began the laying and placing them to the floor which became easier once I cut the starter plank and used it at the end of the laying of the room worked well because the cut end went under the wall runner board.

This hardwood flooring from Bruce is beautiful. There is no underlayment pre-installed, so you will need to install underlayment before putting down this flooring. Since this is natural hardwood, not laminate, no two planks are exactly alike. A case covers just over 22 sq. ft. Each plank measures 48-in L x 5-in W x 7/16 thick. The hardwood planks are pre-finished with a low gloss, and the edges are ever so slightly beveled so the installed planks appear to be separated and not running into each other. They come attached in tandem and must be separated prior to installation. The backside of the planks is unfinished wood, but looks almost as good as the tops. The grain pattern is very nice, and there are no large knots in the flooring. This flooring has water resistant properties that allow it to be installed in any room of your home, even the basement where the moisture level is usually too high for hardwood flooring. This is a floating floor and installs the same as laminate flooring, without the need for nails or staples. I installed multiple colors of this flooring in a small bedroom with a concrete floor using a rubber mallet, spacers/shims, a pull bar, and a tapping block which made installing this product very easy. The finished floor looks amazing and is unique. If you don’t have a tapping block, you can use a scrap piece of flooring, but I recommend the tapping block. They are only a couple of dollars and you can get them at The Home Depot, along with underlayment and everything else you may need to install this flooring. The finished flooring looks great, and I am very satisfied with it.

I received one box of the BRUCE HYDROPEL HICKORY NATURAL 7/16 IN. T X 5 IN. W X VARYING LENGTH WATERPROOF ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOORING which covers 22 square feet. I will have to purchase another box to finish my small laundry room floor. The surface of the flooring seems durable and has a nice texture to it. The boards snap together nicely and lay flat. I have not cut any boards yet but I do not forsee any issues. Here are pictures of my unfinished project.

If you are looking for the hardwood look in a kitchen or bath, this is a great product to consider. Unlike regular laminate, this has the feel and appearance of real wood. It has a seal that when snapped together makes it virtually impervious to water and spills, yet wipes up easily without loosing its shine. It is a bit harder to cut and to fit together, but having a water tight seal is worth the effort.

Just had this installed in the entire downstairs of our house, including kitchen, half bath and laundry area which why I chose the hydropel. I could not be happier with the look. Love the variation of colors that come with the natural hickory. There is a very warm look to the floor. We had it professionally installed and our installer had no complaints about the quality of the product. Very little waste and I didn’t see any damaged boards. Overall couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product.

This flooring lays out and snaps together with tight joints seamlessly. I found it easiest to build an entire row before trying to snap it into the previous row. Helpful to have extra hands on really long runs.

Great flooring! Consistent coloration ( as much as hickory can be), easy to install. A tip though, remove all casing as well as baseboard. It installs very different than any click floor I've installed. No sliding under casing and then tapping into previous board. But a very good quality floor!
