Answer This Question

A:  Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your question. We do not recommend using a steam mop on this floor. For routine maintenance we recommend using the Bruce Hardwood and Laminate Floor Cleaner along with a terrycloth or microfiber mop head. A:  Honestly, please don’t waste your money on this flooring. It doesn’t last. I’ve had it down for about a year and the finished wood is starting to separate from the base layer. Bruce will not honor their warranty. I had 2700 square foot home done. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

A:  Hello Nate, Thank you for contacting AHF Products.                                                          Please see the information below, regarding the requirements for flatness/levelness: LEVEL/FLAT – Subfloor must be within 3/16˝ in 10´ (5 mm in 3 m) and/or 1/8˝ in 6′ (3 mm in 2 m). Sand high areas or joints. If the floor is to be glued down, fill low areas with a latex additive cementitious leveling compound of 3,000-PSI minimum compressive strength patch, underlayment & embossing leveler with underlayment additive. Follow the instructions of the leveling compound manufacturer, but make certain the leveling compounds are completely DRY before beginning installation. When mechanically fastening the floor down, flatten low spots with a maximum of 6 layers of 15# builders felt, plywood or shims (not leveling compounds). Leveling materials must provide a structurally sound subfloor that does not affect the holding power of the fastener. Once again, thank you for contacting AHF Products. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again by e-mail at productsupport@ahfproducts.com or by phone at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm, EST.  Additional information may also be found at our technical website www.hardwoodexpert.com.

          Bruce Hydropel Hickory
We installed about 1,400 sq ft of the light brown Hydropel hickory. Our experience was the installation was relatively simple. We used the Quiet Comfort Premium underlayment in a floating install. The interlocking system provides very tight joints, and the product is very well made. We looked at luxury vinyl and other products before going with the Hydropel and we're glad we did. Unlike vinyl and other products, the waterproof Hydropel looks and feels like real hardwood.

          NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL
DO NOT GET THESE FLOORS. Bought this flooring specifically for waterproof qualities. In July, our air conditioner leacked overnight. 8 hours, not 36 as they claim the floors whould withstand. The floors got damaged. The manufacturer does not stand by their product, Home Depot says it is not their problem. Several thousand loss, not counting labor to replace flooring. Get a different floor.

            love it
We had to redo the bathroom floor as we had a leak, I wanted something close to our existing bruce hardwoods that are twenty plus years old and still look good. We put these in and was very happy with the finished product. I thought the colors blended well picture for refernece of old and new.

                  We love this floor!
We installed this flooring throughout our main floor a year ago and they are great! We have kids and a dog and the floors still look like they did when we installed them, no issues with scratches or warping. We love them so much we just bought more to install upstairs. The only thing I would warn about is that they really aren't light brown, more of a medium, so I would get a sample before ordering.

                    Easily Damages/Not Durable
Really disappointed with this product. For looks alone I would give it 4/5 with the added note that you will be able to see everything on this floor. I now swiffer 4-5 times a day to keep it looking nice with 2 med shedding dogs. 1/5 for durability. First I have noticed areas that seem to have wear and one in particular where the top layer seems to have flaked off and left what looks like white out on the floor. In addition my son has dropped a lego house ( Sm 2*2") from about 4' and it took a chunk out of the floor, just splintered away, I don't even think pine boards would damage this easily. He has also dropped a matchbox car and same result, perfect chunk out of the floor. We had previously used engineered bamboo and he has dropped stuff, never had any issues. The damage makes me think this is poorly made and definitely not worth the hefty investment if you plan on having it look nice for only a month. If you don't drop anything, make crumbs or have pets than for looks this would be a nice choice. It was easy to install.

                      In Shock with quality
We bought the Bruce Hydropel Hickory Light Brown to floor our entire home. We still have to finish two rooms and one of the boards is PEELING on the edge. I'm in complete awe and distress. It's Thanksgiving weekend, we have 1 month to Christmas and my brand new flooring is peeling, right in the middle of the living room. What will happen to the other boards when 1, 2, 5 years pass by? We are contacting Bruce and hope to get a satisfactory solution for this.

                        Puzzle patterned floor
Love the look of this floor. It was somewhat easy to install, but I was not expecting to find different sizes in the box. I would much prefer cutting the boards to develop my own staggered pattern. Other than that it looks good. I would recommend this product, but just be aware of pre cut sections.

I ordered 58 boxes of this and I love it. In a well lit room it's lighter than the images make it out to be, but it's still a dark brown. The one complaint I have was finding T-molding and a stair nose. I ordered around 12 different colors of molding to try and match this. I ended up going with Flexco Mount Castle Truffle for T-molding, if you're looking for something darker go with Flexco Espresso. My advice is to order both and see what one works best for you. I still haven't found a great stair nose. DO NOT ORDER the websites recommended molding - it's garbage.
