The Natural Reflections 5/16 in. product collection is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional 3/4 in. solid hardwood floors and is proudly made by Bruce (Beverly, West Virginia). Made in a thinner 5/16 in. structure, these floors use approximately 50% less raw material than traditional 3/4 in. solid products giving you the same beautiful, solid hardwood visual and performance with some truly unique advantages compared to 3/4 in. thick options. Unlike most factory-finished hardwood floors which have a bevel along the upper edges and ends of the floor, the Natural Reflections 5/16 in. thick solid product from Bruce features a Square-edge, Square-end profile. Unique in the industry from Bruce, this gives you much more of a traditional sand-and-finish or “site-finished” visual with all of the advantages of a heavy-duty, factory-applied finish. And, because these floors come in the low-profile 5/16 in. thick format, they can be installed using either a staple-down or glue-down method and don’t dramatically increase the height of your finished floors. In addition, unlike most traditional 3/4 in. solid floors, they can be glued-down directly to concrete subfloors (see Installation Instructions for full details).
  • Wood Species: Real Domestic White Oak Hardwood
  • 5/16 in. Thickness x 2-1/4 in. Width x Random Length Planks up to 84 in.
  • 40 sq. ft. per case and case weight: 46 lb.
  • Construction: Solid Wood Flooring
  • Prefinished Medium Spice Finish
  • Planks have square edges/end
  • Janka wood hardness rating/resistance to denting: 1330
  • Appropriate Grade for Installation: Above Grade or On Grade

Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for bathroom and kitchen iinstallation

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Wwf
We have had this product for 16 years. I would not put it anywhere where there is a possibility of water sitting on the floor for more than a few minutes. Have had to replace several sections in kitchen due to water damage. If water sits for any time these thin boards warp. We removed it from our powder room because of drips under the towel damaged the floor. Also it bleaches out in the sun. Not happy with this product. Spend the money on the thicker product if possible.

can i glue down the flooring instead of staple?

Asked by: vbean127
Just glued mine, it was a disaster! I imagine since the wood is so thin that staples would cause the flooring to split. My advise, don't glue and don't staple. If you already purchased the flooring, do yourself a favor and return it!

I just want to make sure this is still available. I may need about 30 cases in the next few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these flloors We had this floor installed 10 years ago (kitchen and dining room); we love it so much, we decided to match it and do the rest of the house. I was worried it would no longer be available *and* that the floors (which would be right next to each other) wouldn't match. It is a perfect match! You cannot tell which floor is new and which is 10 years old! No fading, no really bad scratches after 10 years. There was a major snafu with delivery (a month delay), but Steve Bartle in HD's customer service was awesome and made sure our wood was delivered. Please, don't ever discontinue this product.

I purchased this floor as a recommendation from Home Depot as I was looking for something a little less expensive than 3/4 as I had 750 sq ft of area that I had to cover. I then returned to the store to purchase the installation supplies and no one knew anything about the installation of the floor. I went to multiple Home Depot stores, talked to multiple people and they all told me something different. The flooring didn't come with any kind of installation manual or a resource in which I could find one. One associate went so far to tell me that you just lay the flooring down and no glue or nails are needed! The last associate I talked to advised me on the glue and trowel that I needed for the installation, I thought I was on a good track finally. Come to find out, after installing the floor the notches in the trowel were way to big even though the shelf and associate indicated it was correct. Due to this issue, my floor has soft and hard spots, you can feel bumps and voids as you walk across. The quality of the hardwood is also something that I find very poor. I purchased the floor based on the high quality of finish that was in the product description. The finish is softest I have every seen! If you are to just look at the floor the wrong way, it scratches! I have attached a picture where you can see the scratches that now have peppered the whole floor, just from normal traffic. We have had the floor down for a little over a month and it looks like it is 20 years old. In addition, the pieces that came in the boxes were very warped and/or had broken grooves. It looks like the boxes had been in a warehouse for years and now just seeing light for the first time. In addition, no one seems to know where to purchase the accessories from, stair nose, transitions, etc.? So I am left with unfinished points. All in all, this is the worse floor I have ever installed. Now $4,000 deep, with the floor and material I don't know what to do other than just live with it. I wouldn't recommend the following to anyone: -This type of flooring and finish -The so called Home Depot "Experts" -The flooring manufacture

I have loved it! I needed to repair a spot in the floor (due to an accident). I was delighted to find it at Home Depot! Convenient, I trust them, and it was quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes the entry stair way look like it's a new house Wood was high quality oak; pretty easy to work with, with sharp saws. Only a couple of boards with damaged tongue/groove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Results! We purchased this longstrip flooring to match an existing hardwood floor in our home. While not a perfect match, this floor is beautiful. We had a professional install the flooring and had very little waste. The flooring has slightly eased edges, so it is not a tight/flat fit - but nearly so. We put a Floor Muffler-type product under the hardwood. Not sure that this was necessary, but we are pleased with the result. We also purchased some of the transition strips for stair nosing - also a fine product. Nothing more to say but that the floor is beautiful and we are very happy with our product selection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Flooring We purchased this flooring when it was half off on the Special Buy of the Day. This flooring was installed in our living room, dining room, kitchen and halls. We had them professionally installed. The installer said that the flooring is not worth more than the clearance price we paid and that the crew had to do extra work to get it installed due to the way the boards were constructed. Overall I would recommend this product of you for it on sale for $111 a box.
