It’s been a couple of years since I put the new handle on. If my memory is correct they were both rivets. I chose to attach my handle with a machine screw and a lock nut.

Looking for instructions on how to take off the old one and put this one on.

Old handle is probably riveted on. You will need to either take a hammer and cold chisel and cut the old rivet out or use a Dremel tool with a cutting head. It fit a little loose on my Garant snow shovel so I put two small strips of Gorilla tape under it and it was nice and tight. The included hardware was only a single, nonthreaded pin which I discarded and used the screw from the original handle. Seems to be working just fine.

I had to shim the handle with cardboard to make it snug with the shovel shaft. Though that's more to do with it being a kid's shovel than the handle being incorrectly sized.
