Product Overview

Burst Protect by Homewerks Worldwide has a patented pending connector to protect against catastrophic water damage caused by burst, broken or ruptured water supply hoses and fittings. It automatically shuts off the water supply to plumbing fixtures/appliances if excess water flow is sensed, and will remain in the closed position until it is reset. The shutoff valve is located on the inlet end of the supply line, and there are no mechanical moving parts which mean no power required for installation.
  • Proprietary check valve detects bursts and shuts off water
  • Braided stainless steel for strength and flexibility
  • For use in residential and commercial applications
  • Does not require tube cutting or soldering during installation
  • IAPMO Certified
  • NSF Listed
  • California residents

What is the internal material on the BurstProtect Icemaker Connector? PVC?

Thanks to Nick for his answer, however, I was really interested in the internal material. I assume there must be a liner inside the braided stainless steel exterior. I'm thinking it's a plastic like PVC, but wasn't able to find that information in the manufacturers literature.

Easy to install. Seems like good quality. I have had no problems so far but it has only been one week. Time will tell it if leaks but for now it is working great.

Burst valve leaks when connected to my wall coupling. Put some thread seal tape on as well but still leaks. Any clues?

I would look again to see if the rubber gasket is missing from the coupling on the hose. That's what seals the connection, not the threads. If the gasket is there, I would check to see if it's damaged and, if so replace it. otherwise, I have no idea why it would leak.

Flow rate seems very slow compared to standard copper water line.

Mine goes to an icemaker, so flow rate is slower. I would replace it with a standard line, because the check valve is doing its job in the wrong application.

Check valve is to safeguard against catastrophic pressure drops, such as a burst line or something breaking in the fridge. Yours was only a seepage.

Can this be used if same line supplies drinking water in door.

They just call it an icemaker connect as an old school term since fridges used to just have an icemaker and not a spout too. Your fridge should only have 1 supply line of water going into the fridge. It will come in and go through your filter and after the filter it should split to the ice maker and the spout.

Will this work on a saddle valve attachment?

No, you can not use a saddle valve on a braided line. Saddle valves can ONLY be used on copper tubing.
